Basic Training

~Aaron~ Chase was many things, and I was beginning to learn that a demon was high on the list. However, I would be dammed if I let this "tiny" Luna think she had the upper hand. So, I am going to play her game and not even break a sweat... or try not to that is. I had to admit with the temperature finally hit 105 degrees my body was starting to get fatigued just by standing still. We trained day and night in my pack, but temperatures stayed pretty level at around 80 degrees, so this was like standing in the middle of a desert. I smirked at her and took off my sweater revealing my washboard abs. Jason howled in my head when we noticed Chases eyes grow wide as she looked me up and down. 'Okay I admit you being addicted to sit ups and crunches was definitely worth it.' Jason beamed at Chase's attention acting like a pup getting scratched behind his ear. 'Told you... And I am not addicted... When I work out everyone leaves me alone.' I sighed softly and shook my head wanting to focus on working out rather than arguing with my mutt... I mean wolf. "Jason being a butt again?" Chase now stood in front of me, her hand now on her hip with a cocky smirk on her face. However, the blush on her cheeks betrayed the confidence she was trying to project. I leaned down close to her ear whispering, "The same way Ash is probably being a butt to you little Luna." I groaned internally when I felt her twitch as my breath caressed her ear. I smiled triumphantly my body filling with pride as I backed away from her. "So, what is first Luna?" She huffed shaking her head admitting nothing as she turned around and walked to the center of the room. I took the spot next to Liam. Both of us stood in a line with the pack warriors awaiting our instructors’ instructions. "Okay everyone you ready!" Chase started training in a booming voice which resonated around the room causing every warrior to respond with "Yes Luna". "Good now if you have not noticed we have a guest from the Dark Side pack with us at training today. Everyone says hello to Alpha Aaron." I stepped forward one step and waved hi to everyone and was met with grumbled "hello Alpha’s" from each person. I c****d my head to the side in confusion but decided to let it go. I had gotten a feeling that there was something about my pack that I was missing which everyone here seemed to know about. Shaking it off I smiled once more and stepped back in line. "Now that the formalities are done, I have decided that because the Alpha is here, we need to up our training difficulty for today and make sure he knows part of our strength. After all we do not want to give away our true power. Plus, I don't think he can keep up with us at full power." Once again Chase smirked looking at me square in the eye as her warriors chuckled softly trying to cover up their laughter with their hands. I realized that she was most comfortable and truly in her element when she was in front of her people. She belonged where she was, and my heart twinged with jealousy. Jealousy that she could find that confidence and power in a pack… away from me. I realized now more than ever that she was no longer the meek maid I had once known, and I was both thrilled and saddened by this fact. Liam reached over and patted my back smiling sympathetically at me. He was the current Alpha of the Moonlight Pack, so he knew what it was like for others to underestimate the true power of an Alpha. Out of the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma in this pack Liam was the only one that I thought was hiding his true strength. It was clear that Bryan was strong, and that Mark was no longer a warrior due to his injury. However, Liam seemed to like having Avery in control. I felt like I hadn't seen any of his power yet and I had to admit I was excited to see him let his power out during training. "Now everyone I want you to divide into groups of three. One of you will be defending the others attacking. Do not reveal to much to Alpha Aaron but, I do not want you to hold anything back! We have outcasts at the border, so it is imperative now more than ever that you take your training seriously!" She waited for the men to nod and smirked. "I want Liam and Zalia with Alpha Aaron." I smirked looking at her. 'Too scared to fight me herself?' 'No, she is actually smart. She knows you will put your all into training, so she wants to assess your power. She also knows that you do not want to hurt her therefore you will not give your all and she needs you to train in order to help her protect her people. Having fun and challenging us herself would not serve her purpose.' Jason lazily explained to me like I was an i***t. I had to admit more often than not I got my alpha demeanor by mimicking him. 'Whatever.' I huffed as me Liam and this Zalia woman moved off to the side creating our trio. "So, your Zalia huh?" The woman before me was shorter at 5ft with brown hair and piercing green eyes. Something about the way she held herself concerned me. I was beginning to realize that the Moonlight pack was extremely selective about the information they tell outsiders and that is probably due to the fact that most of their pack were once rogues. Zalia seemed to pose no immediate threat to me, but I have always been the overly cautious type. She smiled up at me, "Yes I am Zalia, Alpha Aaron. Are you saddened that you did not get our future Luna or Ralph?" "I will admit that I was hoping to spar with Chase, but I am not saddened at all to meet another warrior of this pack. I am sure there is a reason she placed you in a group with two Alphas. My wolf is practically vibrating with anticipation of our training." I grinned looking down at the smaller female elated when I noticed that she did not flinch at all when face to face with my alpha aura. 'This is going to be fun,' Jason snickered. "Oh, Alpha did no one tell you? We do not use our wolves during training." I had to stifle a laugh when Jason huffed 'Bullshit' at this. "Since most of us were once rogues, they have shorter fuses than others and the last time they were let loose in here... there was a huge hole in the ceiling for a month." Zalia smiled innocently at me. “And I neither deny nor confirm the fact that it was because my wolf, Arya, threw a tree trunk through it.” "I don’t even know how to respond to that. So, who are you to the pack Zalia?" I crossed my arms watching her closely. "I am second to Ralph and before you start, I would lay my life down for this village. I was a single mother when I arrived here and now my child has 3 siblings and I have met my second chance mate... in Ralph." She rubbed the back of her neck like I did and blushed looking over at Ralph. Ralph was with his group, he was a bear of a man standing 5ft 10in with blonde hair in a man bun and onyx eyes. "I like letting my aggression out and as a smaller woman everyone underestimates me... plus I can't shift right now anyways." she beamed up at me placing a hand on his stomach. My eyes went wide when I understood his meaning. "You are pregnant? And you are at training?" "Yes, we do not feel like one should stop training just because they are pregnant. I clearly will not be in the front lines but that does not mean that I should grow week at home eating donuts... not that there is anything wrong with what Beta Katie is doing." Zalia smiled softly as a bell went off in the room and I noticed 1/3 of the warriors drop down into a defensive stance. "Get down Alpha or you’re not going to be prepared." It never occurred to me that I would be the one defending against them. Jason reminding me in my mind that it was dumb of me to think otherwise. Quickly I crouched down and made sure I could see both Liam and Zalia. Smirking I tilted my head upwards to let them know I was ready. However, before I could blink Zalia was gone. Before my brain could catch up Zalia had managed to get me on my back. I felt the cool floor below me and stared for a minute at the hooks in the ceiling trying to figure out what the hell just happened. "Oh, little Alpha you’re going to have to do better than that. Again, pregnancy does not mean I am weak." She laughed softly holding out a hand to help me up. I took her hand chuckling softly, "Okay I get it now. Chase forgets nothing does she?" Not many people knew that I was slow to react when unwarned. Jason could react and twist on a dime just as easily as I could breathe air. I did not get that trait. "Nope our future Luna remembers everything that happens." Liam nodded his head. "So, you prepared now?" Zalia laced her fingers and cracked them. "Honestly... No. Zalia is quick on her feet and makes no noise as she moves. I now know her strengths, but I know no way of fighting against it. This should be interesting." I placed my hand on my head cracking it. "However, there is no way to get better if you do not train. Correct?" I looked at both of them and beamed when they nodded. Once again, I moved into a defensive stance and nodded to them. Now that I knew how fast Zalia was, I swept my foot behind me rather than simply moving forward smiling when I noticed her slow momentarily in order to jump. When her feet left the ground, I moved away from where I was crouched and made sure I was watching her effectively as she continued to dart around me in a blur. 'There is another remember that.' Jason whispered in my mind just before Liam grabbed my right hand and flipped me over his back like I weighed nothing. I slammed into the ground with a noticeable thud all air leaving my lungs. 'you’re like a sack of feathers out here!' Jason laughed like a hyena in my mind. "Okay so that’s your secret Alpha. You’re a silent powerhouse." I laughed placing my hands above my head and pushing myself into a standing position. "Did you even move from your spot!” Liam simply shrugged as an answer. “Okay now that I know the stats let fun begin." This time I did not crouch down I simply held up my hand in front of me and motioned for them to move forward. The rest of our match I tapped into Jason’s instincts and dodged around them by jumping through the air. When Liam was close to grabbing me, I would twist out of his grasp and get close to the ground. When Zalia got close I would hide behind Liam. I noticed that when she was in her "flash" mode she did not have full control of what she was attacking. If there was a chance, she would land a hit on Liam she wouldn't do it. After 30 minutes another bell went off and I grabbed us all water bottles. Liam thanked me and drank it while Zalia sat on the ground trying to catch her breath. "You know it is impressive, pregnant or not, that you can keep up that speed for over 30 minutes and defend yourself against 2 Alphas." "Well Liam was on my side while you were not attacking to kill. You stayed defensive the whole time. If both of you were attacking me the story may have been different." She smiled softly taking the water and then giggled when she was consumed by two large arms. "Ralph this is training!" She lightly hit at his arm even as she curled up into him. "I know. However, I told you before that I do not like when you use your "flash" mode while you are pregnant. You get stubborn and last pregnancy you blacked out for 2 days!" He huffed setting his chin on her head. He turned his head towards me finally realizing that Liam and I were there as well. "Oh, Hi Aaron it’s nice to formally meet you." "Nice to meet you as well Ralph you have an amazing Mate there." I smiled softly at them before walking over to Chase. I noticed that she was not short of breath or covered in sweat telling me that she had not been in a fight. "You aren't training with us?" "The numbers were not even with you here, so I prepared other challenges and distributed the watch rotations." She rolled her eyes at my question and crossed her arms which only made my mouth grow dryer. In only a sports bra, her crossed arms made her breasts stick out even more and I wanted to do nothing more than be alone with her on my couch again. I took a deep breath and forced myself to ignore the fact that all my blood was trying to go to my crotch again. "Makes since Luna." I smiled softly at her, reviling in the fact that I made her blush. "Well, I am on second rotation, so I am going to go get a shower and get some sleep. You run a tough training program Luna I understand now why you did not hesitate to turn down my offer for help." I moved my hand and cupped her cheek smiling softly as she nuzzled into it for a moment. "Good luck with the rest of training Luna." With that I pulled away and waved to Liam, Zalia, and Ralph before existing the dining hall to get a shower and sleep. I had a feeling the Outcasts were going to make the next few days horrible.
