Chapter 171

“Oh, my God, sweetheart.” He took her face in both of his hands. “I love you too. So much, baby, more than I’ve loved anyone or anything, ever.” “Can we talk?” she asked. “Tonight, when you come home?” “Yes.” He kissed her now, over and over, loving her soft curves against his hard muscle. “Yes. We’ll talk, and we won’t stop until we figure this all out. Deal?” “Deal.” Her blue eyes glowed up at him. “And then? We’ll do everything except talk, and we won’t stop until the sun rises.” “I’d better take tomorrow off work then, huh?” “You bet, babe.” She kissed him again, a teasing, lingering kiss that made him harden. “Tomorrow, you’re all mine.” “Just tomorrow?” She grinned. “For starters.” **** It was just after one a.m. Chris and Jenny lay in her bed, naked and sweaty and exhausted in the best possible way. “I still can’t believe you came to King’s today,” he said. “Shook his hand, didn’t panic… you’re amazing, baby.” “You helped me get here,” she said quietly. “You showed me that I can trust men. Not always and not all men, I know that, but I can’t go around assuming that every man is a monster.” They kissed, softly. “So are you sure that you really want me to stay here?” he asked. “Move in, like officially?” She propped herself up on one elbow. “I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life. Are you sure that you really want to stay here? Move in, like officially?” “Positive.” He stroked her hair back over her shoulder. “I don’t want to be anywhere but where you are, Jenny.” “OK, then.” She smiled. “I guess you should move all your stuff out of the guest room tomorrow, then. I’ll clear out space in the closet and the dresser… this is our bedroom now.” He ran his thumb over her full lower lip. “I love you… I love you, baby.” “Oh, Chris. I love you too.” He moved his hand to the back of her neck and gently tugged her to him, her lips meeting his in a fiery kiss. She moaned when his fingers slipped between her wet folds and stroked her to readiness again. Their bodies came together, tight and hard, and they cried out, clutching and clenching, whispering endearments and promises for the future. They didn’t fall asleep until well after four o’clock. When Jenny woke up wrapped in Chris’ arms and she looked into his warm gray eyes, the last thing she wanted to do was panic, or run, or hide, or move even one inch away. I want to be calm and still; I want to be seen and close. And loved. That’s what I want most of all. And there with Chris, she was all those things – all those things, and so many more. With Chris, she was everything she’d ever imagined that she could be; she had everything she'd ever been afraid to hope for. She was whole.
