Without me.

Realization dawned on me that she was still my default but what can I do now? I've to stop linking everything that happened between us for the two months we shared our friendship, wait I don't know the title we were holding on to, we weren't sure of what were. Nine weeks and three days. It's been that long since she shut me out again. I tried. I tried asking for forgiveness but what she always did when I attempted talking to her is walk out on me without a word. Even when I had brought my guard down. The only words she said two weeks after, when we were parading at the assembly are, " Ballice the only favour I'm asking for you please, infact I'm begging you, leave me alone! don't give me a choice of blocking you too but just stop texting me and stop sitting next to me in classes. I need this peace without you! " They never sounded like a plead, they were more of a command in a hushed tone. We had become each other's habit, the texting, the silly jokes we made, the laughters, the humour and more. Even though she'd broken her habit of me when she shut me I didn't break mine. How can it hurt when there is nothing we had started yet? Her silence was breaking me everyday. It was robbing my senses. My heart felt like it was being tightened with barbed wires strangling and breaking it. She changed. She started spending most of her time in the library. She joked less and whenever we bumped into each other, I could see the hurt past her green eyes. I woke up the wounds that had healed whenever she saw me. But I had to give her that peace she needed without me! And that's what exactly I did. I stopped sitting next to her in classes, I stopped texting her and I stopped taking my lunch in the cafeteria. My nanny Cassandra has been packing lunch for me, so I usually take it in my car. Sometimes I do carry snacks from home for lunch. I did this because the boys never stopped taking their lunch at their table. It became a routine. The smile she had put on me faded. I never smiled again except with Bruce back at home. But it mostly came out more of forced. I wasn't jovial anymore. I expected the boys to be mocking me but they didn't. They understood me better than anybody else. We still went for our dancing practices and even played basketball and volleyball out of fun whenever we felt like. When I was alone at home I could play my guitar. I stopped partying and so did she. Tiffany told me they used to spend their weekends indoors mostly at her place but sometimes they did switch places. She kept tabs on me once I told her that I love Kellane and she trusted me. The truth is, I never gave up on her. I still hope that she'll come around someday. But I'm really tired of holding it back. So today is the last day am going to talk to her. I want clarification. Whatever her decision is, I'll stop bugging her if that's what will make her happy. So I was going to wait for her at the parking lot but once I get there, I see her zooming off her long hair trailing in the air sweetly. I immediately open my car and jump into my driver seat turning on the ignition key. I step on the gas and drive out of the parking lot trying to keep up with her speed. Do you get this bliss when you see a lady riding a motorbike at a slightly high speed but not recklessly. It feels like she got some magic powers guarding her. She's so adorable in black leather coat which is flying a little higher and backwards a white top underneath and she is also wearing black leather tights with white toms. She looks great. I follow closely behind her on this long tarmac road which I'm not sure where it's heading to. There are no other vehicles on the way, it's so clear. I see her speeding down as three gigantic men stops her on the roadside. I park my car beside the road and I then start pattering towards them hiding behind the trees alongside the road. "Come with us or I'll kill you here right on this instant! Remember nobody is going to save you because you chose to use this road, shortcuts are dangerous you do know that, don't you?" What ? So this is a shortcut? And it's a tarmac road, how? She spits saliva on that man's face and he clenches his jaw slapping her across her face. She lets out a loud bawl as she throws a kick on his groin making him stagger holding on it wincing in pain. "Girl, you are so feisty, aren't you?" Another man who has a bald walks towards her wearing a devious grin on his face. I hide behind the thick bush near them and I see how he starts drawing circles on her face. She is giving him a hard glare thinking of another attack plan. The third man is leaning on their car his back on me. "Sorry man, she's really something else. Small but tough." The man leaning on the car tells the one whose balls have been messed with. "Once Maya will be done with her, I know what I'm going to do with her, she'll pay for this." He smirks pointing at his crotch. I hope it's not Maya Turner, it better not be her. "What do you want from me?" She screams her eyes turning glassy. "You ma'am." The man with a bald answers. "Why? " We're following instructions." He retorts. " From who?" She asks her patience slimming down. " You'll see, let's go." He tugs her arm and starts pulling her towards the car. "Tell me now, I'm not going anywhere if you're not going to tell me!" She barks and I see a vein popping out on the side of her neck. Furious. Anger. Impatience. Rage. The man grips her hair and she winces in pain as she turns her head around. In a flash, I see her teeth grazing on the man's arm making him drop it instantly. I look around and I see stones. Big stones. I pick up one and I throw it to that man. It hits him right on his forehead and I see blood splashing out. Ouch. The other two men sees him going down and their expressions can't be seen because their backs are on me. Kellane looks at him on the ground shock written all over her face. She takes a step back and turns around. As she is about to run, I hear the sound of the gun being c****d. The man who she kicked first is pointing a gun at her. "Follow me or-" he pulls the trigger and it hits the ground next to her legs. I feel blood running wild in my veins as I look at her in horror. Her eyes also bulges out letting out a loud wail. "Fine fine I'll go with you, please don't shoot me!" She begs tears streaming down her cheeks. My heart constricts further. "It was that easy." The man with the gun throws her to the back seat and the other one follows. He helps the man who's writhing on the ground with pain get up. They get into the car after pointing the gun towards my direction. "Show yourself coward!" I still in the bush fear slinking slowly into my veins. I'm sorry princess. I can't fight three gigantic men with guns weaponless . But I'll come save you. After they drive off, I run into my car stepping on the gas hard, I follow them. I almost loose them but I speed up keeping a long distance between us. After about thirty minutes they stop at something that looks like a warehouse. It's surrounded with thick trees which seems to be swallowed with age. It looks old itself. Its paint outside looks faded even from the distance. Someone opens the enormous rusty gate for them and he closes it after they get in. I park my car beside the road next to another warehouse's gate. It can't be noticed am sure. I then patter slowly towards that gate. I find a hole on it and I peek inside. I see a middle aged man leaning on the wall , a cigarette is perched carelessly between his fingers and his eyes looks like death. He's scary. I then see one man carrying Kellane into that warehouse. I can't decipher If she has been drugged or if she is asleep. Her head is thrown back hanging freely in the air, her hair cascading down like thick dark smoke from where I'm standing. I move across the gate. I find a tree and next to it, is the wall surrounding the warehouse. I doesn't hesitate climbing it. When am on the top of it , I scan the compound. There's nobody at view except the man who's taking his cigarette at the gate. I cross the branches one after the other. I Know I can't be able to climb down that wall since it looks kind off slippery. I take this one risk of jumping off from the tree. I hang my hands on one of its branches my legs floating in the air swinging. I swing three times back and forth and on the fourth trial I jump landing on the ground making a loud thud with my boots. I look around once more, there is no sign of a person. I then mince towards that old house my heart thudding against my chest. I've never done this before, I better not get caught before I find her. I send a silent prayer to the heavens. To at least hear me this once. I round the house trying to find an opening but I doesn't find one. I only come into contact with a fire alarm. I almost press on it but I see light illuminating from a window infront of me. I peek in and I see those three men chatting. They are being surrounded with a lot of boxes and they're sitting at one of the corners on plastic chairs that looks so beaten with age. They're all laughing when the one with a bald receives a call. "She's here...yes ma'am...no she'll be awake after 20 minutes...I did as you just stated... Okay." He hangs up turning to look at the others. "The Turners are really something. The girl has taken after her father damn." They shake their heads laughing. And one of them suggests a play. They start playing cards and I take this time to search for an opening. So it's Maya Turner, my suspicions were right.
