Ground Rules (Chapter 7)

5 days had gone by. Adreleiah got to experience traveling for the first time and the pervertedly obnoxious behavior of her fiance. She had to give it to him with all the teasing he kept her pure and never went further than over the clothes or pajamas. Viton briefed his fiance of the dark elf royal family and some of the politics but he knew they came from different backgrounds she would need a tutor. They were ten minutes away from the border of the dark elf city and Adreleiah was looking out the carriage window. It looked so... gloomy she knew she would have to fix that but still keep their culture in mind. She could see the castle walls and the village surrounding the large cast. It was very beautiful. Light elfs had their own houses and usually rather large an hours drive from the castle. And the villagers that were closer stayed in the large light city. "Adre. You look like a child." His statement was filled by a low chuckle as she huffed. "And you are as brash as ever" Adre leaned back closing the curtains with a pout. She had to say he was going to take a little to get used to his home but he wasn't as bad as she thought. Adreleiah grabbed one of his documents causing him to raise an eyebrow. "This is a concubine proposal?" Adre skimmed it as he cleared his throat her eyes glancing back to him. "Adrelieah I'm a king, What kings in your hystory doesn't have them?" Viton leaned back against the felt crimson red chair His bright eyes examined her body language looking for her response. Adre blinked and thought for a second. Her father had 20 concubines other than her mother so it was just as common in her religion but she didn't think it would happen so fast. "We aren't even married. So no I have not considered concubines" Adre leaned back folding her hands on her legs. She was irritated but she wouldn't let him know. I'll.k She was the queen of course she would have no choice but to know them she would however be the head of them. She would be doing everything a queen does. So she needed to prepare. "Then I should probably tell you I will publicly name my first concubine after we marry" He said as he kept his eyes on his fascinating finance. The way her lips twitched when she was mad or how she bit them when nervous made him excited to have her as his. Adre couldn't help but snort when she heard his last retort. "My king, Forgive me but they are asking way to much for a dutchess to gain land and power. Their requested dowry is really outrageous" Adreleiah continued to scan the document in her hand with disapproval. She couldn't believe he was accepting this proposal. He was her king and this was now her country she couldn't let anyone take advantage of her new family. Viton admired her for helping like a queen would. Atleast she was taught what any princess is. How to rule. "No Adre. I won't accept this one I have someone I've been intimate with for a century I told her I'd make her My first official concubine." He explained further to her. Adre blinked processing what he had just said. He already had a lover and he put her through constant flirtatious advances. It baffled her but she made a realization noise recalling him telling her he wouldn't be in love with her. She could feel her throat get tight as she cleared her throat asking the question she had to force out. "And.. Your in love with her?" Viton held out his hand for the document she snatched away staying silent about if he loved her or not. He himself didn't know he just knew she had a very special place in his heart. He grabbed a seal that stamped respectfully declined on it and rolled it back up to put next to the finished documents that were stamped with his seal. "We'll make you a seal after you settle in" Adre listened to him but didn't get a response to him loving her so she figured is silence was confirmation. Seeing him hold out his hand she immediately handed over the document. She saw his seal was a elf and dragon together. It was rather stunning. Once she hear him say he would make her one when she settled on she nodded. Adre knew in the five days she spent with him fighting him about the concubine he had already slept with and made his mind on would only make him mad so she folded her hands in her lap once more opening the curtain. The city was now in sight and people were bustling. Warriors standing in a long line along the road to keep villagers from getting to be to much. She could hear them hooting and hollering for him. The ground was shaking slightly it was truly a sight to remember. He was a loved king. Did he really need a queen and a light elf at that? What were his motives. Adres pale purple eyes glided to her fiance taking in his features. In the mix of hearing them yell for their king she could hear them yelling about a happy union. She knew her personal maid from home was in the carriage right behind her riding with Vitons general. Her mind going to her. "I'd like my maid to be married off to someone with status here.. preferably one we both agree on. She is a member of our royal family back home, My cousin" she explained hoping he would agree. After a minute he hummed and she smiled knowing he silently agreed to her. "Thank you" Adre said softly seeing her fiance looked rather bored aside from the occasional nod or wave to his people since the curtains were pulled back so the villagers could get a good view of their royal family.
