She was still holding me aloft, but as soon as Ares appeared, she had pulled me closer to herself. Although I cringed at the idea of sinking a blade into any flesh, even that of someone with such sinister, unknowable intentions as the one here before me, I knew I had little choice but to defend myself. I was a liability. And although I normally wouldn't dare to think such presumptuous thoughts, I couldn't help but be afraid that Ares would allow Scylla to hurt him for as long as she held me hostage. At least for his sake if not mine, I had to try to wrest the knife from my pocket and fight my way out of this
