Chapter II – Nighstar Pack Massachusetts 18:34 It’s beenapproximately ten hours since I left the pack and went on a run. I was alreadyaway from Angeles National Forest; itwas where our pack settled down on… near the known forest in Los Angeles. Welived in like a small community, where there were lesser humans. I flew toMassachusetts, and I was still wondering why I chose it rather than the otherplaces… but I didn’t care; the further, the better. There were a lot of forestsin Massachusetts, but I guess… I’ll just let the wind take me to where I’msupposed to go. I enter the cab andwatch civilization pass by. It’s a nice place, and I can already feel a goodfuture up ahead. The driver asks me where to go, and I just answered whatpopped into my head first. “BeartownState Forest, please.” I really had no idea what was in that forest; butI’ve heard about it a lot… because one of the largest pack was in there somewhere. The driver looks athis mirror that has my reflection. I look at him in mere curiosity, and then Ismile. I can smell him. He smells like a werewolf. “You’ve figured itout, have you?” He asks in a nice voice. Well, at least he’s not threatening mewhy I’m going there in the first place… yet. “Yes. I was justclosing my senses earlier… but I’ve noticed you now.” I smile. He nods, and stopsthe car. He clears his throat and look back at me. “What is your business withthe Nightstar pack?” I shuffle silentlyand answer him. “I have no business actually… but I am looking for a home.” He stares at mewith his bright brown eyes. He look like he’s just in his early thirties, butthere are already wrinkles forming on his face. He honestly looks gorgeousthough. He has tan skin, almond shaped eyes, thin lips, pinched nose, andstubble around his mouth. “You don’t looklike a rogue,” he says, failing to completely show a hateful glare. He lookstoo nice to be threatening. “I left on my ownaccord because of a… bad past; and Ihave no intention in going back to Los Angeles. I’ve stopped in many placesalong the way, but I could never seem to find the perfect place… until Iarrived in this place.” “What is yourname?” He asks. “Scarlet Farkas, former member of the Winter Snow packin Los Angeles; also one of the biggest packs currently.” He smirks and holdsout his hand. “Red wolf, huh? Well, I am Loupe Colmillo.” I smirk back at himand shake his rough, large hands. “Right you are, sir. And I believe LoupeColmillo means Wolf Fang; but it’sactually Wolf’s fang, and I alsobelieve you are a sentinel.” I suream right about him being a sentinel. Sentinel is one of the subordinate ranksin a pack. They are to ensure that the pack is safe by patrolling theterritory, and watching the movements of the surroundings; they are also tomake sure that there are no intruders to enter the clearing. “Nice to meet you, young lady; and yes… you’re right about that. But I’m on a break, so I figured…why not earn money for the day, youknow?” He chuckles lowly and let go of my hand. He revs the engine and startsto go towards a trail that is obviously towards the pack’s community. “Is the alpha…alright with this?” I ask nervously. There are alphas who are just tooprotective and mean of run-away’s androgues; and there are rare alphas whoare hospitable and accepting. “Yes, I believeAlpha Vilkas will take you in. He has soft spots for werewolves who are runningaway from a bad past… but he will certainly know if ever you are lying aboutyour story when you tell him the reason of your leaving. He is one great alpha, and for a nineteen year-old, he’s a legend. Better than his father, he is.” Hesighs in admiration and then continues on his story. “His father died two yearsago when he exactly turned seventeen. We were unfortunately invaded by rogues, but because of his father and his leadership, we won… and only lost two livesat the end- his parents; they diedtogether as they protected the pups… we were tricked. They pretended to fightus off on the battleground, but little did we know that two dozen of rogueswere headed towards the pups. Luckily, his mother saw them right away, so hisparents ran towards the house and protected them with all their might. You see, there is a secret in the Nighstar pack, and when the alpha will let you in, I will tell you the rest of the story.” Hesmiles at me and then took a deep breath. I thought he wasfinished, but apparently I thought wrong. “Anyway, He did not mope around aftertheir death; instead he stood strong and led us to peace and more strength… Heis an amazing alpha, even though he has not found his mate yet; but we stillaccepted him that way. He is already strong without a mate… but we alwayswonder how strong he’d be with a mateby his side.” He finishes with a huge grin on his face, and then I notice thatwe are already in the entrance of the pack community, that has one huge assmansion which I notice is the pack house, and there are small houses scatteredaround the land. I can clearly see the lake behind the pack house too. I admirethe view from the window, and gasp at the beauty of the surroundings. “Welcome to the Nightstar pack,” he says livelily as hegets out of the cab and opens the trunk. I follow him and grab my luggage. Ionly brought one, and it’s humungous… I also brought my hand carry… and I havenot much of materialistic things anyway. Before the houses, there is an enormous gate painted black. It’s the kind of gate you see in theBuckingham Palace. There is tight security, as I can see. The architecturedesign on the pack house and the small houses are modern yet there is atraditional touch in them. It looks like a perfect place to settle down in. “Come with me,” hesays, dragging my luggage with him. I nod and follow him along the path. Thereare six men- or shall I say werewolvesthat were guarding the gate; there were more sentinels, I see. “How many membersare in this pack, Loupe?” “There are aboutsix hundred in estimation; 400 men, and 200 women… or something like that. Asfor the ranks… we have about eighty sentinels, both men and women, who are guarding in every direction of the boundary; wehave three elders; thirty hunters, both men and women too; ten scouts; and about ten caretakers too,all women. Glad to say there are no omegasthat have been ranked for doing wrong actions.” I nod inunderstanding, and follow him as the other sentinelsopen the gate for us to enter. I’m given the curious stares, and so with thewarning stares. Some were openly feared of my presence… that always happensthough. People always submit to me at some point… and maybe it’s because I was meant to be a Luna in Winter Snow pack. I sneer at mythoughts, and push them away. Loupe and I arenearing the pack house when suddenly a beautiful, gorgeous, blue-eyed man comesout of the front door, and looks at me curiously, and happily. The intense of hisstare makes me gape. I could feel the sudden pull towards him. I could alreadyfeel the tingling sensation on my skin. It’s a pull that I didn’t feel towardsRaphael. However, this man… our pullis strong, desiring, and passionate. His peachy lips drew a smile- not just anysmile… but a breathtaking smile. Myheart is beating erratically as I watch him run his long fingers down his spikydark brown hair. “Scarlet…” Loupecalls, but I don’t hear him. “Scarlet!” He calls again, and I snap out of it,the man and my gaze broken. I frown and then clear my throat. “I’m sorry,” Isay sincerely to Loupe. It takes all of menot to look at him; but I am dying tojust feel his touch on mine. But isn’t it weird? I already have a mate… andit’s Raphael… but why do I feel this intense feeling? He’sour mate, Scarlet! We have a second mate! Silver told me so... Ravensays excitedly inside my mind. I smile widely, and look at him. His expressionmirrors mine in every way possible. I know he couldn’t wait to touch me too,but he has to contain his excitement for I am a stranger to him. Isthat his wolf’s name? I ask Raven. Ofcourse! Beautiful, isn’t it? Yeah…I respond in a dreamy sigh. “It’s alright.Well, Scarlet Farkas, this is the alpha of the Nighstar pack… in flesh- Szari Vilkas.” Loupe beams at me, and soat Szari. I know that color… szary is the Polish term for gray; so his fur must be a mixture of grayand silver. “Hi,” I greetbreathlessly, aching to touch him. “Hello,” he greetsback with his strong Irish accent. Amazingly mind-blowing, that is. We lose ourselves staring at each other, until he starts moving towardsme, while butterflies erupt on my stomach. Thisis intense… I tell myself. This feeling is so much different than thefeeling I had with Raphael. I know Szari and I both feel the same way, and thatis the fact that we feel as if there is no one else rather than us. I couldactually hear distant voices, but all that I could focus on is the sound of thewind, and the sight before my eyes. With one touch, Ifeel complete. He is in a very close distance in front of me, holding my hand, like I am his life source. He smiles excitingly, and I return it the same way.I feel overwhelmed as he hug me tightly, whispering into my ear. “I’ve waited for so long… and you finally came to me. Ialmost gave up, but I’m glad you’ve come.” His voice lingers on my ear, wakingevery part of me. His voice is rough, yet sweet… something I can listen to forhours. I am speechless, since I don’t know how to tell him that he’s not my original mate… He then pulls away, looks into my eyes again and then in a second… he pushes his lips softly ontomine, making my heart burst in the feel of his touch. It’s a simple, yet lovingkiss; a kiss that has more love into it than passion. I start to kiss him back,my wolf and I feeling complete over the fact that he is accepting us. He pulls away slowly, but I’m not mad at all… we knowwe have to talk. So, he holds myhand tightly and drags me towards the pack house, leaving Loupe calling myname, gaping at the sight of the both of us too. I giggle softly as we both runtowards his room, I suppose. Then, when we enter, he closes it right away andgives me a chaste kiss on my lips. He honestly makes me feel so complete. We’re bothstrangers, but we’re both already so deep into love; that I have forgottenRaphael at some point. We both sit down onhis king sized bed, and then he hugs me lovingly. “I’m so sorry… I’m so sorry…”he apologizes; but I wonder why? I pull away fromhim and ask. “Why are you apologizing?” “I know, baby… Iknow.” He admits; and then I gulp. “But I have younow…” “I should’ve foundyou first,” he says sadly, but I can also tell the slight anger on his voice. I smile faintly andkiss him again. It’s still the same kiss… an innocent, sweet, loving, purekiss. A kiss that can be described in so many words… a true love’s kiss. “Is this evenpossible?” I ask. He bites his lip, making me growl softly. It’s pretty much arousing to see him do it. Oh man, my hormones are acting up! He sighs. “I had a mate… I had never met her in myentire being… but I felt it when she died.” I gasp silently. Idon’t really know what to say. I’m not good with death speeches, ‘because I’ve never encountered death in my whole existence. “I’msorry,” I say genuinely… because that’s all I can say. I’m afraid to offend himor something. He shakes his head and smile at me. “It’s okay… you’re here now.”And then we hug for the longest time possible. It felt good. His touch made mefeel home. And that’s where I was. I am finally home.
