Chapter 2 -Ali’s POV

“Ali sweetheart.. you are more powerful than you even realize..” I hear my mom’s voice.

I don’t remember anything, all I know is that we were in a car accident. I open my eyes and I see that I’m in the hospital. I look around to try and see if I can see my parents or my sister.

“Hello..? Mom? Dad?..”

A nurse runs over to me. “Honey I need you to lay back down, don’t try to sit up yet”

“Where’s my family..? Are they okay?” I say in a panicked tone

“Just lay down and I’ll find out where they are for you, okay?”

“Okay” I say to her and I lay back down trying to remember anything that happened. I don’t know when but I fell asleep. I woke back up to a doctor and a nurse talking outside my room.

“She was the only survivor from the accident” I heard the doctor say.

“That poor girl, does she have anyone we can call for her..?”

“Just grandparents, but they live in Florida”

I was the only one that survived the accident…

Lucas’s POV

I’m at the training center, to train for the upcoming warrior games against a neighboring city, I am one of the best warriors of our city. I’m the leader of the army. Out of the blue my little brother comes running in and says “We have to go to the meeting hall, it’s important!” So I stop doing pull ups, grab my backpack and take off running towards the meeting hall. When I get there it looks like the whole city has gathered in here. Looking around confused I see my dad up at the podium getting ready to make an announcement.

“Thank you all for coming, I will try to keep it quick so you can all go back to what you were doing” He usually tells me about the meetings before he makes the announcement, I wonder what’s going on.

“I just got word that there’s going to be a new member joining our tribe, she is in Nashville, Tennessee right now but my son Lucas is going to go get her and bring her to us!”

I’m going to do what now? What is he thinking? Why me?

“She has had her powers since her birthday a few months ago but now they are ready to be fully developed! Thank you all for your time, we will host a welcome dinner for her when she arrives!” Everyone is talking and whispering about the girl and what kind of powers she’s gonna have, but I pushed through the crowd to go straight to my dad. “Dad, what the hell? Why me?”

“Because son, you are our strongest warrior and there are others who want her to join them.”

“You mean our enemy, The Black Crow Tribe?”

“Yes son, they are after her too, but I know that you can protect her and bring her to us.”

“Okay, I’ll go.”

Ali’s POV

I can’t believe that they’re gone… How was I the only one that survived..? At least my grandparents are here now, they want me to go to Florida to live with them. They check me out of the hospital and take me home so I can get my things. I go upstairs and start packing up all my stuff, holding back the tears. My grandmother comes upstairs and gives me a hug. “I know honey.. We are here now.” They help me take my bags to the car, and then we are off and on our way to Florida.
