Chapter 6: New Adjustments

I pulled Matt’s head into my lap, I could feel the heat radiating off of him, he was coated in sweat and breathing heavily. Kelly had fetched me washcloths and a water basin filled with cold water and ice. As I sat with Matt’s head in my lap I ran my fingers through his hair and put the washcloths on his forehead, swapping them out as they became too hot. He was passed out from the pain. I would occasionally open his mouth, slit open my hand, and drip a few drops of my blood into his mouth hoping it would help his transition and make sure he had enough blood to turn into a vampire instead of just dying. My hot tears fell onto his face as I kept muttering, “You f*****g i***t. Why would you do this?” to him over and over again. As the days passed his pulse became weaker, and his breathing more ragged. I didn’t eat, and barely left his side. Leo and the servants would knock on the door every few hours trying to coax me out and encourage me to eat. I would ignore Leo, break into the servants minds and send them across the mansion to leave us alone. I lost track of time as I watched Matt pale, until his heart finally stopped, the heat  finally burned out of his body and was replaced with cool, clamminess. He opened his eyes, his pupils fully dilated making his normal soft, brown, eyes appear as nothing but hollow, black, pits. He opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by me slapping him across the face.  “How could you do this to me?” I demanded, “How could you make me turn you like that?” I sobbed, holding him tighter, “I wanted to save you.” I whispered, “I wanted you to move on. To have a good life.”  “Cindy, look at me, I chose this. I chose to stay with you forever. We will build a good life together.” He said, lifting my chin and forcing me to look in his eyes. He tilted my head to the left and then to the right, “You haven’t eaten.” it wasn’t a question. “Or showered.” He looked me up and down, “And I doubt you slept.” He sighed getting up from the bed and pulling me up with him. Crossing the room quickly he opened the door causing Leo and the servants to nearly tumble in, “Jesper, Candy, come in please? Cindy and I need to feed. Leo, after we eat, and get cleaned up, we will come to speak with you about how this affects the dynamics of the household relationships.” Leo, opened his mouth, thought better of it, turned around, and went to his office. Kelly and Kenneth went their own way, while Candy and Jesper followed the orders they were given. Candy gave me her arm as she kept an eye on Jesper and Matt. Matt smiled as he pushed away Jesper’s extended arm and bit his neck. I bit into Candy’s arm, and drank. I was starving, but I only took three gulps before I sent her on her way to fetch me some blood from the Red Cross donation to finish recovering me. She eyed Matt nervously as she left because he kept drinking from Jesper who was beginning to struggle.  “Matt. Stop.” I said using my compulsion voice, as my subordinate he followed the command glaring at me. “Jesper, leave. Get yourself cleaned up, and have Kelly tend to the wound.” Matt made to chase after him, “Matt. Stay.” I ordered again, he turned his face to me as his body refused to move, since it obeyed my command. “You can’t kill the help. I know you are hungry, and I know you are angry because you think there’s something between Jesper and I, but there isn’t. Jesper may have a crush, but it is very much one sided, and will pass. Finding good help to willingly feed us is not as easy as you would think, and he is an important member of this household, so you are not allowed to harm him, or kill him.” I emphasized the command with my compulsion tone. “I am going to shower and when Candy returns with the blood bags drink half and save the rest for me. You are not allowed to leave this room or feed on anyone until I return.”  “Fine.” He said, not used to having to take orders. “You wanted to be a vampire, congratulations you are now. That means you have to obey your sire, which is me. And I say that if you’re going to be a vampire you’re going to learn to do it the right way.” I went into my bathroom closing the door. I could hear him pacing in the room as he was mulling over my words. I took my time washing off three days of sweat, blood, and tears from my hair and body. During my shower I heard the door open as Candy came in to drop off the blood, and then it closed again as she left. I exited the bathroom in a clean set of pajamas.  Matt sat on the bed drinking from his bag of blood. “You can shower now.” I said, as I took a bag of blood and began to drink. I could tell Candy was worried about Matt, as she didn’t take the time to warm the bagged blood like she normally would do for me, but I was starving so I didn’t complain as I ripped into my second bag. I heard the shower stop and soon Matt was standing before me with just a towel wrapped around his waist. A new hunger overtook me as I stared at his slim, but muscular frame. I missed his body so much, and the feel of having him next to me, holding me, kissing me, and other things. “Come here” I breathed. I didn’t use any compulsion, but he followed my order slowly walking towards me, maintaining eye contact as he knelt before me so we were face to face. I wrapped my arms around him, kissing him hard and pulling him towards me. With a low growl he let the towel fall and crawled on top of me in the bed.  His hands pushed up at the hem of my tank top, and I moved arching my back to give him better access to take it off, his hands quickly moved to my waist pushing my underwear and shorts off with a couple quick tugs. I wrapped my legs around his waist, dug my nails into his back, and bit my fangs into his shoulder as he thrust into me. He nibbled my earlobe and knotted his hands in my hair pulling it hard enough to force me to release my hold on his shoulder, with my neck bared to him he sunk his fangs into me and I squealed with delight and pleasure as he quickened his pace. His fingers dug into my lower back and hips as I wiggled beneath him matching his thrusts, until he held me so tight I could no longer move, and he increased his pace again thrusting into me hard, deep, and fast. I bit into his neck  and could feel my nails drawing blood from his back as I reached c****x and tried staying silent. He stiffened inside me a few pumps later, and I took my time grinding my hips against him as he finished inside me. I collapsed back on the bed pulling him so he was laying on top of me as I held him. I felt him soften and fall out, but I kept my arms and legs wrapped around him in post orgasmic bliss.  “We’re going to have to change the sheets.” He muttered, rolling off of me and onto his back. The bite and scratch marks had already started healing.  “That’s what we have servants for.” I smiled. “I’ll send one of them to fetch your clothes from your car.” I searched with my mind until I found Kelly’s consciousness in the kitchen.  Kelly, would you be a dear and get Matt’s clothes from his car? You can just leave them outside our door. I thought into her mind. I heard her thoughts agreeing and a few minutes later there was a sharp knock on the door followed by her footsteps leaving. Matt replaced the towel around his waist before opening the door to grab the duffel bag. I put my pajamas back on as he threw on a pair of sweats.  “I, uh, wasn’t expecting to be here long. Kinda thought I’d talk you into coming home, before finding out about the vampirism.” He said, running his fingers through his messy hair as he looked at the small bag with probably only enough clothes for a three day trip.  “It’s fine, we can go shopping.” I said, “Leo’s loaded.” Matt nodded and opened the door again, motioning me through. I led the way to Leo’s office and entered.  Leo sat reviewing his files, but looked up when we walked in. “You couldn’t at least shower first?” He asked, looking disappointed. “Well let’s make this quick, you guys reek of body fluids.” He rubbed the bridge of his nose like a disappointed father.  “Ugh well,” Matt coughed awkwardly, “You’re kind of the leader in this mansion right?” He asked Leo. Leo only glared at him, “Well seeing as how it’s my house, yeah. I’m in charge.”  “Alright well, now that there are three of us and only 3 servants to feed from, I would like it if you would feed from Jesper. I don’t like him around Cindy. I’ll feed off of Kenneth and Cindy can use Candy as her blood bag. This way we only have to keep track of our servant’s donations instead of it being free for all. And uh, Cindy mentioned that you had started training her, and I was wondering if you would also train me in being a more effective vampire.” Matt stated his claims, but it was obvious that he still saw Leo as Mr. Wright, our high school teacher and authority figure. I wondered if I would be the same way if he hadn’t royally f****d me over.  Leo groaned. “Yes, Matthew I was planning on training you as well, even though you were an awful student. Even you have a place in my plans.” Leo rubbed his temples with his eyes closed as if the mere thought of training Matt was giving him a headache. “Although, I do appreciate you making it easier by coming here, rather than me having to convince Luna to turn you.”  “Wait, is there another vampire, besides us?” Matt asked, confused by the name Luna.  “No, Matty, I just changed my name to Luna once I was turned.” I explained, enjoying the look of pure frustration in Leo’s eyes.  “Wait, so I can change my name?” He asked.  “Yeah, you want to?” I asked him.  “Yeah, I’ve always liked the name Archer.” He smiled at me, “I was planning on changing my name to Archer legally once we got married, since no one in my family is around to be offended by the change.” He was becoming a vampire a lot better than I did, meeting every aspect of it with a smile and childlike excitement. I, on the other hand, realized in comparison I had been acting like a spoiled brat. I started to feel bad and want to apologize to Leo until I realized Matt had tricked me into turning him, therefore he chose this fate while I was kidn*pped and turned against my will. My spiteful energy about my situation returned.  “I like that name, it suits you.” I smiled at Archer. “But I’m totally going to call you Archie now.” I teased him, knowing he hated everything to do with the Riverdale comics and show. He rolled his eyes at me, but made no mention of changing the name.  “Alright. Well if that’s all you two wanted, you can get out of my office.” Leo made a shooing motion with his hand. “Have Kenneth and Kelly take you shopping for a new wardrobe or something. We will resume training tomorrow.”  “Yes, sir.” I said with a mock, salute. “Credit card please?” I batted my eyelashes as Leo pulled out his wallet counting out hundred dollar bills. “Four-thousand should cover it right?” He asked me, “You can get some of your normal...attire” He looked at me, clearly remembering what I wore to class, “But you also need dresses, nice, pretty, classy, dresses for the court meetings, parties, and inception part of our mission. Kelly knows what you need. The color choice is up to you still. Archer, you need at least two suits, Kenneth will choose them, and you’ll behave while the tailor takes your measurements for them, but otherwise you are free to choose whatever else you want.” I could see it pained him giving us so much money to buy clothes when he clearly did not approve of our taste. “Also, don’t use that money for tattoos or piercings. It would just be a waste of money, as your healing has increased so much that they will be gone within a few hours. When you guys actually make your own money I will take you to the specialist witch tattooist to get whatever you can pay for.” He dismissed us with a wave of his hand, like two annoying pets.  I smiled as I counted the cash in my hands. I had never had so much money all at once. Kelly and Kenneth waited by the door with hoodies, hats, and sunglasses for us. I hoped my mother would be here soon to bless Archer’s ring, so I wouldn’t have to worry about him going out. Thankfully, it was sunset, and we wouldn’t be spending much time in the sunlight. The car windows were tinted as dark as they legally could be and Archer and I rode in the back. Instead of going to the mall we pulled up to a downtown area with many aristocratic looking shops. I groaned as I realized Leo would make sure to order them to take us somewhere we could not get near a Spencer’s or Hot Topic.  We followed Kenneth and Kelly down the street as they seemed to know exactly where they were going. On the way we passed a pet boutique filled with fancy toys and accessories for pets, a shop dedicated entirely to different oils and vinegars, a*****e that sold chandeliers and all kinds of bright, shiny, lighting. There were normal things as well such as a dentist office, optometrist, secretary of state, etc. Followed by candy shops, a two story toy store, and finally the clothing district. Women emerged from stores arms laden with bags of name brand designers, hat boxes balanced precariously on one arm, while the other held designer handbags that housed rat dogs with bows in their hair and sparkly collars that probably cost more than my entire jewelry collection. Archer and Kenneth disappeared into the tailor’s shop, while Kelly and I stepped into a seamstress shop. There were mannequins with different dress styles draped over them around the shop, a single wall of dresses in bags with receipts hanging off of them, two walls containing row after row of different fabrics in every color and pattern imaginable, and in the center sat a deep red wood desk with a squat little old woman working away. Her gray hair was in a messy bun with pencils sticking out in peculiar places.  “Hatty?” Kelly, said after a minute of waiting as the woman enthralled with her current sketch. Behind her was a doorway to the back half of the shop where only faint light was visible. “Hatty, I’ve brought the girl Leo wants clothing for.” Kelly insisted a bit more boldly this time. Hatty only held up a finger in protest, and I shrugged as I made my way to the walls of fabric. I admired the dark reds, deep purples, blues, and richest black fabrics she had to offer. One that caught my eye in particular was a rich black with silver stitching that resembled spider webs.  “Interesting choice.” I heard a raspy voice next to me, I jumped to find Hatty’s little hands outstretched for the fabric I was holding. “I think I will like working with you my little fledgling.” she muttered as she held the fabric up to my skin and hair contemplating how well it would compliment my features. “Good eye. Good eye.” She muttered more to herself than me. “Come now dearie, let old Hatty measure you up, before we get designing eh?” She asked as she motioned for me to follow her into the back room. Off to the side there was a small bathroom, but otherwise the room was only mirrored walls with a small stage in the center. “Up you go.” Hatty swatted at my rump. I followed her instructions and let her ply my body how she needed for my measurements. “Vampires, best clients, measurements are always the same, lots of business.” She muttered nodding to herself.  After scratching down random numbers in her planner she moved around me observing my figure closely. “Hour glass….very fun to work with. Ball gowns, trumpets, mermaids, possibilities are endless….except a-line...can’t not emphasize the assets. No, especially not for this.” I looked to Kelly who only shrugged as if saying this is just who Hatty is, we just deal with it. “Name?” Hatty demanded, it took me a minute to respond. I was so shocked she was finally talking to me.  “Luna.” I answered.  “Very pretty.” She said, “Alright, come come.” She motioned for me to follow her back into the room. “Pick all the colors you want.” She motioned to the walls of fabric handing me little numbers and pins. “Put the numbers on the colors you want. I make you beautiful dresses and send them to your home.” I did as Hatty said, whenever she noticed I was running low on numbers she would hand me more until every red, purple, blue, and black in the shop had a number. “Perfect.” Hatty murmured, smiling, “Good taste. Good taste.” She turned to Kelly, “How many dresses?” She asked.  “Leo requested at least twelve.” Kelly answered.  “Okay, $900 up front.” Hatty held out her hand, “The rest will be billed to the account.” I counted out $900 from my two-thousand dollar budget and handed it to Hatty. “Don’t look so sad, you will love the dresses. Wear them with much pride.” Hatty patted my hand. I smiled at Hatty, before Kelly and I left the store.  “I just spent half my money on suits.” Archer said glumly as he joined us with Kenneth tailing him.  “Same.” I said, disappointed.  “I didn’t even get to see the designs or anything!” Archer continued, “He just took my measurements and had me choose different fabrics.”  “Hatty did the same for me.” I said, “Although she kept insisting I would love the dresses and complimenting my taste.”  “I hope we can go somewhere normal to spend the rest of our money on clothes we will actually wear.” Archer said as we made our way back to the car. Kenneth drove us thankfully to the mall next. We immediately found the Hot Topic and Spencers where Archer blew the rest of his money on jeans, tees, novelty pajamas, and belt buckles. I only spent a couple hundred dollars there on t-shirts, jeans, fishnet stockings, and skirts. Kelly and I then made our way to the lingerie shop where I spent a couple hundred on bras, panties, and pajamas, before venturing to the vintage clothing store where I spent the rest of my money on corsets, skirts, and boots. With our haul in tow we ventured back home where we happily filled our closet with our amazing finds showing off to each other what we got. Afterwards we looked around the plain room and started shopping online to find decor to make it feel more like home. Once we had everything we wanted in the cart we took it to Leo who agreed to use his credit card and Prime account to make the purchase so long as we promised to commit fully to our lifestyle and training. We agreed in a heartbeat before returning to our room. We sat on our bed as I updated Archer on my life as a vampire. He was shocked to learn that Leo had tracked down my birth mother for me and intrigued as to how the meeting went. When I explained to him how well it went and that she would be joining us at the house soon he became wary, but excited to meet her. Finally, he asked the question I had been dreading.  “So why did Aubrey and Leo turn you?”  “It’s a long story.” I tried brushing it off.  “I have nothing but time.” He said, leaning back. And so I explained to him what I knew of the prophecy and how I was supposed to overthrow the mad king. I explained Leo wanted to build a coven and my mother was supposed to be the first one added after me, until he came and cut into line.  “Wait, Leo wanted you to turn me?” He asked, “Do I have something to do with this prophecy?”  “I don’t think so. I think it has more to do with how important you are to me and to Mist.” I explained, “But I’m not sure. Before you came I was adamant about not turning you.”  “Oh well.” He said, “What’s done is done, plus now you have another person who you know is one-hundred percent on your side.” He pulled me down so that I was laying next to him. After a long day of shopping and so much sun exposure we fell asleep quickly.  I awoke to Kelly’s familiar knock. “Come in.” I said, sitting up and rubbing my eyes.  Candy came in with her along with Kenneth. “You’re to feed and meet Leo in the training room.” Kelly said before leaving. Kenneth and Candy approached us offering their arms. We drank until we were sated and sent them on their way.  “Alright, hopefully you bought some workout clothes.” I smiled at Archer who nodded in agreement. After we both changed I showed him through the mansion. Like me he stopped in the gaming room and stared in awe.  “Do these all work?” He asked as he looked at the old gaming systems.  “I’m told they do.” I smiled as I realized that I may have just lost him for the next hundred years. “Come on, we can play after.” I said dragging him out of the room and through the rest of the house until we reached Leo’s pit of despair. I ran through the drills with Leo to show Archer what he needed to do. Thankfully, the one class Archer never skipped was gym and he caught on quickly. Soon he was moving faster and more effectively than me causing Leo to actually put some thought and effort into his moves as they spared atop the posts in the room. After the workout we went for a cool down swim in the pool before taking Archer to select his Scythe. I watched Archer’s eyes glaze over as Leo explained the history of vampirism and the importance of meeting your quota of souls to reap, but when it came time to choose his scythe Archer became as excited as an unsupervised child in the candy shop. He immediately went to the sleek oak handled scythe with dual blades that resembled bat wings with their sharp finger like curves. One blade was at the top on the right side while the other was on the left side of the bottom of the staff.  He twirled the blades around artfully and with enough grace to remind me of the years of weapons training we had with our martial arts fighting in middle school. While I had dropped out freshman year of high school due to a shoulder injury, he had continued on to become a third degree black belt. He took a few minutes getting a feel for the weapon as he balanced it in his grasp smiling wickedly. “I wouldn’t mind testing this out on Jes-.” He was interrupted by himself as he bit his tongue and I rolled my eyes.  “Even contemplating and speaking of defying an order from your sire will result in physical harm to yourself, dumbass.” I scowled at him. “Now put your toy back, we’ll go hunting later. If you behave yourself.” I warned. He scoffed at me as he put the scythe back.  “So Leo, when do I get to learn the cool mind control things you and Luna do?” He asked.  “I can’t teach you that. Some vampires are more naturally inclined to learning it on their own, others never master it.” Leo said as he led us from the room of blades.  “Come on you at least have to have some tips you can give me.” Archer pushed.  “It requires a lot of focus, and inner sight. Without truly understanding your own mind, and consciousness you can’t begin to understand anothers. Without understanding there is no control.” Leo answered with a sigh as he rubbed the bridge of his nose.  “So meditation?” Archer asked.  “Kind of.” I answered, realizing Leo was at his limit with his patience for Archer for the day. “You won’t be able to use it on Leo and I, but you’ll eventually be able to pick up on the consciousness of the servants as you get to know them better. It’s like being able to determine who is coming up the stairs at home by their footsteps. Just instead it’s recognizing their thought patterns, how they perceive themselves and those around them. From there it’s just a matter of inserting yourself into their mind.”  “That sounds really confusing.” Matt said, “So at all times you’re just aware of everyone?”  “Kind of yeah.” I shrugged, “It’s not that bad, and once you get used to it it’s more of a background noise that you don’t notice until you start looking for someone in particular. Like right now I can tell you someone is in the kitchen, two people are in the laundry room, and one is in the garage. Now if I focus I can tell you Kelly is making dinner, Kenneth is washing the cars, while Candy and Jesper are folding laundry. If I were to focus harder I could not only tell you exactly what they are all thinking, but even communicate with them or give them compulsion commands.”  “Communicating with them like that is a rare skill even among vampires. At most Archer should be able to learn to sense their presence and put them under compulsion if they are in the same room as him.” Leo interrupted.  “Really?” I asked, shocked to learn that something that came so naturally to me was rare.  “Yes. Not even I can put someone under compulsion if they aren’t in the same room as me, and it has to be verbally said.” Leo answered as we made our way into the kitchen. Kelly smiled as she pulled out a casserole from the oven.  “That smells amazing.” I said, jealously. “Oh how I miss real food.” I lamented. Kelly only laughed, and Leo excused himself to his office.  “What happens if we eat real food?” Archer asked.  “You get violently ill.” I answered glumly. “I thought I could get away with eating a really rare steak, and I threw it all up.”  “I’m sorry.” He said, petting my hair, “I know how much you loved food.”  “Thank you for understanding.” I told him as I gave the casserole one last longing look before going back to the parlour to peruse the book shelves.  “Do you think any of the servants know how to set up the N64?” Archer asked following me.  “Gimme a second I can see.” I said, entering their minds one at a time to ask. “You’re not going to like the answer.” I said. “Do you want me to ask him?”  Archer groaned, “Go ahead. I really want to play classic Mario.”  “He’ll meet you there in a few minutes.” I said, finally selecting my book and curling up in a chair by the fire.  “Thanks.” Archer said, returning to the game room, knowing damn well not to bother me when I’m reading.
