Alexis. The clink of our wine glasses echoed through the room, followed by our laughter. Sierra clapped her hands, cheeks flushed from the wine and amusement. “I still can’t believe you actually flipped him off,” she said, grinning wide. “He deserved it,” I replied with a shrug, feeling the warmth of both the wine and the small victory pulsing through me. Sierra’s grin only widened. “Kevin’s face must’ve been priceless.” We both laughed again, but as the noise settled, a strange quiet filled the space.
