Chapter 27

Raina "I'm not going back to live in your house, Mr. Mondragon. Have you forgotten that you kicked me out like an animal? And now you decide to bring me back to your house? Aren't you out of your mind?" I strongly objected. What was he thinking of wanting me to return to his house? Isn't he worried that Rina might get mad at him? His savior? "Don't think like that, Raina," Pit interjected, speaking for the first time. "The truth is, Sir Evo wants you back in the house because—" "Don't think highly of yourself, Raina. I'm not bringing you back to my house because I still have feelings for you. If you weren't carrying my child, you would never set foot in my home again," Evo said to me with a sneer. I was hurt by what he said. It felt like a small needle was piercing my chest, but I didn't show it to them. I never thought I would hear those words from his mouth. If I look back at how he treated me before the accident, it's very different from how he treats me now. He always supported me and treated me nicely before. Anyway, nothing is permanent in this world. So I shouldn't be surprised that his treatment of me suddenly changed. "Don't worry, Mr. Mondragon. From the start, I never thought that you loved me. I know that your only interest is the baby in my womb," I replied to Evo with my head held high. "And I'll repeat what I told you. I won't go back to your house. So you should leave now because you're just wasting your time." No matter how much Evo tried to convince me to live in his house again, he couldn't persuade me. He had no choice but to leave. And I hope they don't come back. After leaving the hospital, I stayed inside my apartment for a few days. I was afraid that if I went out, someone might try to harm me again. I didn't want to put the baby in my womb in danger again. After a week of staying inside my apartment, I suddenly felt bored. I was forced to go out of my apartment and head to the mall to stroll and also buy grocery stocks. My food stocks ran out because all I did was eat, sleep, and watch television. I even gained a few pounds. When I arrived at the mall, I first went into a coffee shop and had a quick coffee. After that, I headed to the supermarket to shop for grocery stocks. I put the groceries I bought in the car first and then went back inside the mall to go to the department store. I went to the infant clothes section because I was going to buy clothes for my baby. It's good to have my baby's things ready so I won't be rushing to buy baby items when I give birth. The baby items I bought are unisex because I don't know the gender of my baby yet. Maybe next week I'll have an ultrasound to find out if my baby is a boy or a girl. I hope it's a girl. But if God gives me a boy, I will still gladly accept my child. I was busy choosing baby clothes when suddenly two women approached me. I grimaced when I saw that it was Aira and Luca, my former colleagues, who came up to me. These two women were the only people in the company whom I never got along with. They were very envious of me, especially when I secured big projects for the company. I pretended not to recognize them and was about to leave when Aira grabbed my arm. I had no choice but to face them. "What a small world, Raina! I didn't expect to see you inside the mall instead of inside a prison," Aira said to me with a grin. "You should give birth inside a prison so your child can grow up there. Surely, he will become a criminal when he grows up." "You're right, Aira. Mr. Mondragon is too forgiving to let the woman who killed his mother roam outside of prison," added Luca. Not only is my half-sister the villain in my life, but also the two witches in front of me. "Maybe you should be the ones in jail and not me. Have you forgotten about plagiarizing my designs before?" I retorted to them. If they think they can bully me now because I'm no longer in the company and no longer married to an influential person, they are mistaken. If they couldn't bully me before, how much more now that I have a baby in my womb that I need to protect? "How dare you frame us?" Aira angrily pointed at me. Until now, she still denies that they copied my designs so they would be chosen to handle our new project back then. I just let it go because, in the end, the client still chose me to handle the project over them. But even though I let it pass, I will never forget it. "Framed you? There's no need to frame you both. Because you know the truth yourselves. Improve your designs so you don't have to copy. You were just beautiful but lacking in skills," I sarcastically told them. The faces of the two women turned red because I was insulted by them. "You're not just a murderer but also an accuser!" Aira shouted. "Murderer! Gold digger!" Luca added insults towards me. They are really friends because they both have bad attitudes. "I'm wasting my time with people like you." I shook my head and was about to leave when I suddenly remembered something. "By the way, next time we meet, stay away from me. My killer instinct might be triggered and I'll chop you both into pieces," I threatened them. I held back my laughter when Aira and Luca's faces turned pale simultaneously while their eyes widened. Fear was evident in their faces. So, they were afraid of me. Well, it's good. So that if we meet again by chance, they won't bother to talk to me anymore. I shake my head at their reactions. They saw what they were looking for. They'll call me a murderer and then get scared by a simple threat I just made. "Y-You're not serious, aren't you?" Luca stammered as he asked me. I slightly smirked and shook my head. "Chicken," I teased them before finally leaving and walking out of the department store. I'll just shop for baby clothes next time when I return here.
