Once in A Distance Past   The smell of blood so thick that night, the moon were nowhere to be seen as heavy dark clouds hanging below it, covered the sky above the field where a massive battle took place until the sun lowered into the horizon   The grasses waves as the breeze go through them and the dry leaves fell from the trees from woods next to the field   The night is getting late, even the guards placed around the battle field started to get tired, especially when they also were part of the battle.   In that darkness, a silhouette of a figure, tiptoeing at the cover of the trees and the night that getting darker. At the edge of the woods, that figure lowered flat to the ground.   They were tired, but it doesn’t mean that they lose their focus. In an instant, they move when they heard a different crackling sound from that of the leaves blown by the wind that started to blow harder   With high alert the guards circle the pile of dead soldiers and start stabbing their corpses, making sure that they are indeed already dead.   The guards looking and nods of assurance at each other, and slowly while still looking to the pile of corpses before them, they set back and return to their positions. ****   The wind getting stronger, thunders and lightning cracked so loudly as if they wanted to tear open the sky to then pour hard rain to the field below, to cover sound from a corpse with a ripped face from the spear of the guard   From underneath the corpse, that figure of a man crawls up, right cheek and ears bleed from the spear that almost rips that blood soaked face. But right now, that wound is the least of the problem. Slowly that figure crawls up the dead body of a giant that actually caused the death of many soldier below him, as he fell down and crushed them all.   Carefully, the figure crawls up, ignoring the thunderstorm hurting his body, still cautious… Those guards may look tremble against the cold, rain, and tiredness, but the fact shown makes one should be careful. Slowly the figure crawls up the chest of the dead giant, to the part where it shows a rip on his massive chest. Rain makes the newly dried blood started to flow again…   Slowly that figure took out a leather pouch from inside his clothes and collects the blood. But as he tightened, the corner of his eyes caught a glimpse of metal of some kind that lodge at the flesh of the torn chest of the giant. ****    “HALT! STOP!” shout one guard as he circle back, and the bright lightning showing the figure on the knee above the giant.   That figure jumped and runs as fast as possible while try to dodge the raging arrows shots from the guards, towards the woods, now limping because of one arrow that now occupy the right thigh. The pain that the figure fight, because right now what important is a leather pouch, that rested next to the chest.   Breathing heavily, the figure rest his back to a cleft of rocks in the woods, bite his hand to muffle the scream as the back of the arrow close to the thigh being cracked loose, leaving the head of the arrow resting inside. .     Pulling the legs, the figure limping to a massive banyan tree then squeezed beneath one protruding root and gets cover with dirt, dried leaves, and fallen branches, then slow the breathing and pray that the guard didn’t realize that one of his feet stepped the one he’s been chasing.
