Originally, this book carried a whole storyline about how the archangel Aurelian falls in love with a human woman named Merit. Aurelian’s power focuses on righteous anger and chastity—the Heavenly opposites to the mortal sins of l**t and wrath.
Aurelian’s tale would highlight the consequences of an archangel experiencing true love with a human. But the stuff about Aurelian and Merit started stealing valuable spotlight from Xavier and Camilla. By changing the timeline so Camilla returns to ancient Egypt after she’s showing signs of the disease called khrysonia, I could make the same point without diluting the main love story.
