Roma was sitting on her sister’s porch listening to her killing herself laughing as Roma finally told her what had happened with Lucian.
“What are you like? A hot guy spends the night at your house making you feel good then you act like that?” Jane said breathlessly as she held her sides from all the laughter. Wiping her eyes she turned serious as she faces her sister. “That explains why you have been avoiding him for the last week,” Jane said realising the situation.
Roma groaned as she looked into her drink as she knew her sister would do this. “ Well in my defence it was a spur of the moment thing and I wasn’t expecting ti to happen,” Roma said in her defence. “ I was feeling lonely and couldn’t sort my head out before he knocked on the door. When I saw him at the door everything my heart screamed we NEED him and it overpowered my head,” Roma shakily said. She threw her arms up and screamed out of frustration. “ I don’t know what to do, Jane, I feel lost and I know he wants me but I don’t know what I want. I’m still married for goodness sake.” Roma let out a long sigh. “I don’t want to get hurt again.”
“ Roma, it’s easy you were married to a brute of a man, a lot has happened over the last couple of months and you are starting to find yourself again,” Jane said wrapping her arms around her sister. “Take your time, I’m sure if you told Lucien what happened then he will understand and give you the time to figure out what you want. You can’t avoid him forever you know.”
Roma looked at her sister and knew that her sister was right. She needed to tell Lucien why she freaked out the way she did but didn’t know how to face him again. “What would I do without you,” Roma said looking at her sister. “ It’s like I’m being torn in two and I don’t know what to do or how to face him,” She admitted. it was going to be difficult as she knew she would have to talk to him sooner rather than later.
Roma pulled her cardigan around her body as she shivered even tho it was warm. She had the feeling of being watched but could never find out the source. She knew she had to tell Jane, but she didn’t want to worry her sister any more than she already had. Conan had never mentioned anything more about the man in the trees but she felt like eyes were on her constantly.
“Well, I better be off to start dinner for the boys.” as she stood from her chair. Roma quickly hugged her sister before going down the steps and started heading to her home. “Guys, what do you want for dinner?” Roma shouted when she walked through the door. She didn’t hear a reply but she knew their favourite food was pizza. Roma couldn’t be bothered cooking so she searched the kitchen drawer and ordered from the local pizza place.
After they had eaten Grant looked at his mother and saw that she was deep in thought. “Mum, what’s up?” Grant asked. “It looks like your a million miles away,” He said scrunching his eyebrows together.
Roma comes back from where her mind was and looks at her son, “ Just thinking about how well you both have settled since we arrived.” Roma lied to her son. He looked at her curiously before shrugging his shoulders. Roma knew she shouldn’t lie to her sons but she didn’t want them to know the real reason she was lost in thought. She was thinking about Lucien for the millionth time that day and how she was going to face him.
“I saw Lucien this afternoon and he asked how you and Conan were,” Grant said making conversation. “ I told him you were good and that I was on my way home for dinner,” Grant said watching his mother mess with the napkin she had in her hands. “He looked like he wanted to ask more,” grant finished. He knew Lucien fancied his mother by the way that he was holding her the day of Conan’s almost accident.
“That’s nice dear,” Roma said trying to act casually, even tho she wanted to run to him and talk to him herself.
“Mum, can I ask you something?” Grant asked his mother. “Do you like Lucien as in like, like?” Grant held his breath as he waited on his mother’s reply.
“Grant it doesn’t matter if I like him or not, you and Conan are my number 1 priority and nothing will change that.” Roma looking at her son with resolve. “Lucien is just a friend so you don’t need to worry about me,” Roma smiled at her son hoping her smile is more convincing than how she felt. “Grant you and Conan are the most important people to me and nothing will ever come between us and our family.”
Grant looked at his mum and knew she felt something towards Lucien but didn’t want to push it more than what he has. He only started seeing his mother happy while they have been here and knew she gave up a lot for him and his brother. He started to form a plan in his head to make his mother happy once and for all. He needed to get his Auntie and Uncle in on his plan, so he asked if he could go and visit them. “Can I go and see Auntie Jane and Uncle Stefan please?” Grant asked his mother who nodded that he could be excused. “Let operation happy commence,” as he walked out of the house and headed to his aunt’s house.
