Roma was wondering where Jane was leading her but she suddenly saw herself standing in front of a lovely home where she was going to live with her boys. Jane opened Roma’s hand and placed a set of keys in her palm. “Welcome to your new home,” Jane said pointing to the house they were staring at. The front of Roma’s house looked similar to her sister’s but on a smaller scale. There were flowers lining the path leading up to the oak door. Roma couldn’t believe her sister did this for her.
Conan ran up to her and pulled on her jeans leg. “Mummy, Mummy guess what? I have a friend and she’s a GIRL!” Conan stated as a matter of fact. “She lives in one of those houses and her name is Charity. She said that I can play with her all the time.” Roma smiled down at her child and smiled happy that he had made a friend. “That’s great baby you’ll have to introduce me.” Conan screwed his nose up and turned and ran back to where Charity was.
Roma couldn’t wait to see the inside of her house as she ran up to the door squealing as she unlocked the door. She was taken aback by the inside of her home. She saw the stairs leading to the upper floor. The walls were painted in a neutral colour and there was a couch that was black leather that smelled new. There was a neutral rug in front of oak wood sideboard with bookcases on either side ready to be filled. Roma was already planning what colours she would paint the walls and where things would go before Jane dragged her into the kitchen. Everything smelled like new as she took in the kitchen with all dark oak cabinets and workstations. It was similar to Jane’s but there was a breakfast bar instead of the island that Jane had. Roma couldn’t keep the smile off her face.
“Thank you Jane it’s breathtaking! It’s perfect just like those drawings I did when we were younger.” She hugged Jane with tears streaming down her face.
“I’ve got a confession. I had those drawings of yours and used them to design this place for you. I always wanted you to live by me and Stefan so we can always have each other.” Jane said shyly. A tear fell down Jane’s face as she watched her sister explore. Upstairs Roma saw the bedrooms and placed over her heart with love for everything.
“This is your room. I’ve left it neutral but I knew you always a 4 poster bed coloured white so we bought you one as a home warming present.” Jane said coming up behind Roma. “You have an ensuite that’s white appliances. You have a closet that you can walk into as well.” Jane said hoping Roma wouldn’t cry again. Her shirt really couldn’t take it.
“it’s beautiful Jane. You remembered how I was when we were younger!” Roma gushed checking everywhere.
“ Grant’s room is down the hall ready for him to add his touch to make it his and Conan has his room beside Grant’s. The bathroom is between your room and Grant’s. The bathroom has a jacuzzi bath and a walk-in shower.” Jane explained to Roma as they went from room to room. “I have one more surprise for you, follow me.” Jane led Roma to the end of the hall past an extra guest room and then opened a door to a small library filled with all sort of books for Roma to read when she wants peace. “Consider this your hideaway from the world.” Jane said as she did a grand gesture moving out of the way so Roma could get in the room.
“Thank you, Jane, for everything. I can see us being very happy here.” Roma said throwing her arms around her sister’s neck.
Roma and Jane were sitting in Roma’s new kitchen when Grant walked in with Stefan. “Hey mum, that car is amazing! Uncle Stefan took me out for an awesome spin in it and it handles like a dream.” Grant stared into the distance daydreaming of owning his own sports car. “Uncle Stefan has also offered to teach me how to drive when I turn 17, isn’t that awesome mum.” Grant hugging his mother tightly.
“you should go check your room out and decide what colours you want. It’s the second door after the stairs.” Roma called to the back of Grant as he disappeared up the stairs to check his room.
Roma looked around at her new home and sighed, “I’m finally home”.
