Grant woke up excited as his plan was coming together as the outfit that he picked out for his mum, with the help from his aunt was at their house along with shoes and purse. He had picked a nice of black boot-cut jeans that made his mum’s legs look longer and a nice jade top with an empire line and capped sleeves. He picked a pair of dark green kitten heels and his mother’s dark green purse. “I think your mum is lucky to have you,” Jane said hugging him as she left his house with the outfit. Grant smiled at the thought of his mum’s face when Lucien shows up at the door. He picked up his phone and texted Lucien, “Dude you got a green shirt? Plus have you decided where you’re going to be taking mum?”
“Hey, Grant, why a green shirt? Yeah got the restaurant booked. It is booked for 7:30 tonight.” Lucien text back.
“great dude, thanks for agreeing. Can’t wait to see mum’s face when you knock on my Aunt’s door. She likes Yellow roses by the way,” Grant finished his text to Lucien. Fingers crossed Roma will like the surprise.
Roma had an unpleasant feeling in the pit of her stomach as she was watching Conan and Charity playing on her lawn. She was anxious in case another car would lose control and hit the kids. She also thought that Grant was up to something as he was whispering into his phone and being vague about what he is up to. She put it down to stress and looked forward to having a girl’s night with Jane later on.
Roma went over to Jane’s right after she had fed Conan his dinner. Grant had said that he would order something in later when Stefan went to Roma’s house. “ I hope Jane doesn’t mind that I am in my pyjamas as it’s just to chill and relax,” Roma thought to herself as she went up to Jane’s front door and knocked before she went in. Jane, it’s me,” Roma shouted as she went into the living room. “ I’ll put the wine in the fridge,” Roma said to herself as she went into the kitchen. She had just finished putting the wine in the fridge when Stefan came downstairs while he was putting his jacket on. “Hey Roma, Jane is upstairs and she said to just go up,” Stefan said with a smile as he jogged out the front door to go and babysit Roma’s boys. “Have fun,” Roma shouted after him as she started climbing up the stairs to Jane’s bedroom.
“Finally your here we can start getting ready. Thought we would go out tonight and celebrate your freedom,” Jane said when she saw Roma she knew she had little time to get her sister ready before Lucien arrived. “I was hoping you would be over before now but let’s get you ready before I need to get ready as I am faster,” Jane said pushing her sister towards the shower. “I thought we were going to be relaxing!” Roma said crossing her arms across her chest. “ If I had known we were going out I would’ve got ready at home.” Roma nearly shouting at Jane over her shoulder. She knew there would be no point in trying to fight her sister as she wouldn’t win against a vampire, Roma threw her arms up in the air. “OK, you win!” Roma whined as she pouted at her sister.
After Roma came out of the shower she sat down in front of Jane’s vintage vanity table as Jane did her hair and make-up. Jane blew dried Roma’s hair and curled the hair into soft curls which hugged Roma’s face gently. Roma’s make up was coordinated to match her outfit that Jane was going to be wearing tonight. Roma’s eyelids were covered in a sea-green which made her eyes pop with a dark green eyeliner in a winged design. Jane coated Roma’s lips in a subtle nude colour that made her lips look fuller. After Jane had finished she stepped back to admire her masterpiece and couldn’t believe the transformation in her sister’s appearance.
“Wow Roma, you look amazing, even if I do say so myself,” Jane said grinning as she swivelled Roma round to see herself in the mirror. The woman looking back at her was not who Roma had seen since she was a teenager. “Oh Jane, it’s fantastic, I hardly recognise myself. But what do I wear since I never brought clothes with me for going out.” Roma said sadly as she stared at herself in the mirror.
“ Don’t get teary on me Roma,” Jane scolded, “You’ll ruin your make up,” Jane said as she went into her walk-in closet and bringing out the outfit Grant had chosen for his mother to wear tonight. “Here wear these tonight as I heard they look amazing on you,” Jane said winking to Roma. Jane could see the confusion on Roma’s face when she realised that the outfit was hers. “Jane, when did you get them?” Roma asked quizzing her sister. “Oh a little birdie dropped them off the other day along with these,” Jane said mysteriously.
As Roma was getting dressed she started to feel dread as she felt something bad was going to happen tonight. She knew Frank would be looking for her, “but he doesn’t know your here,” she whispered to her reflection. Once she had finished getting dressed she went downstairs to where Jane was holding a glass of wine out to her. “You look great Roma we don’t need to go just yet, let finish this bottle then we can go.”
“I am worried Jane about this, as I have never been out for a night out without Frank,” Roma said glumly looking into her wine. “What I embarrass myself or you even,” Roma panicked as she suddenly stood. “Don’t worry nothing bad will happen I promise you will have a great time,” Jane said calmly as she hugged her sister, Just as they finished the bottle of wine between them the doorbell rang making them both jump.
“Jane, You expecting anyone?” Roma shakily asked frozen where she stood. “I ordered food before we go out,” Jane said laughing at Roma’s expression. “It’s fine Roma,” Jane said as he headed towards the door. Roma slowly starts inching towards the living room doorway. She starts moving from side to side as Jane opens the door, just as Roma has enough surprises her eyes open wide at who is at the door.
“Lucien? What are you doing here?” Roma asked as he takes in the sight of the man who is always on her mind.
“Well a little birdie told me that you like roses and I have reservations but no one to accompany me,” Lucien laughs nervously as he thrusts the flowers out to her. “I, I was wondering if you would like to have dinner with me, Roma,” Lucien asked searching her eyes for her answer.
“I would love to, but I’m going out with Jane tonight,” Roma said quietly. “Jane, I can’t leave you after all of your planning for going out!” Roma exclaimed turning to her sister who was struggling to keep the amusement from her face. “You can and you will,” Jane stated, “matter of fact you will go with Lucien and have a swell time,” Jane beamed at her sister as she gave Roma her jacket and started pushing her out of the door.
