The Fractured Wife

Chapter 5

Grant couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw his aunt’s car as he loved big cars especially this kind of car. It was a forest green jeep with black leather seats and every state of the art add ons that come with this type of car. “WOW, you own this?” Grant couldn’t believe that his Aunt owned this beauty. “Yeah I own this but you should see my Koenigsegg Agera RS when we get back to my home,” Jane said bursting with pride. “Maybe your Uncle Stefan will give you a spin when we get home,” Jane said winking her blue eye. 

“I would love that! Thank you aunt Jane” Grant exclaimed as he stroked the jeep before hopping into the back seat with Conan following right behind him. 

The journey to Jane’s house was quiet apart from Conan applauding gleefully as he watched the scenery. Grant couldn’t wait to see the car that his Aunt told him about and was restless in his seat and fidgeting with anything he could get his hands on. Roma felt relieved her sons were looking forward to something that she had not seen before when they were back with Frank. 

Roma was looking out the window and started to worry about how her boys would cope being away from their father and how they would adjust to their new life here. As she looked out the window she noticed that they were driving on a road that led them into the middle of nowhere. Roma started to panic but glancing sideways at her sister she pushed the fear to the back of her mind. 

“You will love being here as there will be lots of room for the boys to run around and have their own space. The children that live in the community are friendly and I’m sure the boys will make friends quickly.” Jane said breaking the silence that consumed the journey. You could cut the atmosphere with a knife. Jane looked at her sister and wondered what happened to her sister in all those years she was married. Roma wasn’t the girl she grew up with and her confidence was gone and she looked way older than her 40 years. She didn’t want to admit it but her sister was just a shadow of her former self.

“We are almost there guys,” Jane announced as she turned down a road that was surrounded by big oak trees. She was anxious about bringing to her sister and her boys to her house but Roma sounded desperate on the phone so what choice did she have. Jane was happy to have her sister back in her life. “I promise to bring my sister back from the emptiness that she is in and help in any way I can,” Jane vowed to herself.
