Eva's POV
I can't believe they did that! I knew they didn't like me but they were still my parents. You think they would've been a little protective or even a little hesitant. But no, they just sent me off. It's hard to be extremely disappointed this is how it's been my entire life, but it still hurts a little. When I was little I learned pretty quickly that I was not like my sister. I lived in the little crawl space above the upstairs hallway. It was really small, don't get me wrong, but I had enough room for me, a couple of pillows I stole that my sister, Brittany (ironic right), was going to throw away, and a little jewelry box.
When I was 12 or 13 me and my best friend, Lydia who was my only friend, went to a little thrift store. They knew my situation but didn't do anything about it which kinda pissed me off but they were already doing so much for me. We went to buy me some clothes for school, but when I was walking down one of the aisles I saw and was immediately drawn to it. I asked for that instead of a new backpack even though the one I had was already falling apart. I knew it was the right choice.
That jewelry box held everything of value I owned, which wasn't much. I had a necklace I found in mothers room one day, one of my fathers' watches, and a rock that Lydia I painted in class the first day we met.
Back to the point, as you can tell I didn't have much while Brittany had the big room, thousands of clothes she doesn't wear, and hundreds of dollars in jewelry.
Fingers snap in front of my face making realize I was spacing out and bringing me back down to Earth.
"Excuse me!" a voice snaps. I look to my left to see Jack looking at me with a scowl on his face.
"I'm sorry did I miss something?" I ask him with a little squeak in my voice.
"Yes, quite a bit I'm guessing. You didn't catch anything at all?"
"No, sorry" I answered looking down at my lap to see my fingers playing with each other. I hear him sigh beside me.
"Let's start over then. I'm Jack if you don't remember. You will be moving into my house. don't get in my way, no talking to Max without at least another person in the room, you'll meet him later, and the classic, under no circumstances at all are you to enter my office unless I say so, which I won't." He said everything in only one breath which made it difficult to hear everything but I still nodded my head saying I understood and went back to looking out the window as we drove deeper and deeper into the forest. This is going to be a very long car ride, I can already tell.
