943 Words
Seraphina was still working when Regina came to her with a message. "Seraphina, Sir Richard seeks your presence . " Regina said. " Why? " " I don't know. " " Where is he? " She asked. " His room. " Regina replied. " Thank you. " She replied leaving then Regina went to help her then Angela came in. "Where's Seraphina?" She asked. "Out." Regina replied rudely. "What?" "Can you leave the same way you came?" Regina asked, Angela hissed at the order. "Just you wait till I get Richard. Idiot." Angela muttered. Soft knocks was heard, Richard who was reading arched his brow. "Come in." He said as she went inside. "You called for me, Sir Richard." She said as he frowned when he heard what she called him. "I think Richard is fine." He said. "Well, that's what I want to call you since you're my boss." She replied with a shrug. "Sera..." He paused rubbing his brows "About what happened." He started. "What happened has happened. It's in the past now." She cut in. "I'm s..." "There's no need to apologize." She interrupted. "Can you not interrupt! Just keep quiet!" He yelled furiously. "I'm sorry." She whispered. "No." She replied. "Since yesterday?" He furrowed his brows. "That's my business. I don't think that should be any of your concern sir." Seraphina spelled out. " You have to eat for the sake of..." He trailed off as she interrupted. " Can you not bring the baby talk? Since when did I matter to you? Your dad has been away for like two months...I guess that's how old this bloody marriage is, so why now?" She folded her hands under her breast as his eyes followed her movement. " Since you have nothing good to say. Continue reading, I have some work to do." She said. " As your husband, I command you to stop right there and follow me to the dining room." He said tucking his hands in his pocket, he walked past her. " Like this is a magic show." She hissed. He sat down, his mother was waiting there, but she gave Seraphina a stare when she saw her. "Sit down." Richard said but she went ahead to serve them. "I shall take my leave sir and ma'am." She bowed, Richard banged his fist loudly on the table. "Sera...as my wife! You ought to obey me!" He thundered. She rolled her eyes. "But I don't want to eat. Why is that your headache?!" She responded hotly. " Sera..." He called breathing heavily, trying to be calm. " You should be a submissive wife to your husband, Seraphina. Didn't your parents teach you some manners? Your father must have spoilt you before he died but I'm trying to make you useful." Mrs Micheal said as those words hit Seraphina hard, she went back sitting opposite Richard. The door opened that moment. " Hi dad." Richard greeted. " Dearest, how are you doing? I hope this big head boy did not stress you?" Mr Micheal asked his wife who was laughing. " Stop that! Dad, you know I'm a good boy." Seraphina's tears dropped as she used that opportunity to leave. " Oh Phina....I.... Where did she go? I'm sure I saw her here." He said. "She's just tired." His wife said immediately. " Seraphina!" "Hi Regina. What's up?" Seraphina replied. "Nothing much. Just chores. I'd like to show you something. Come with me." Regina said with her cheerful smile. "Oh okay." She followed. " A fountain? Oh my God! f**k it! This place is so cool." She guffaws in awe, her stomach growled. " Seraphina, you have to eat. You're starving not just yourself but the baby. She's suffering because of you. I know Richard is a jerk but when he offers you food, you have to eat for the baby's sake. What we maids eat is little compared to that of the bosses and you know it can never be enough for you two." Regina said lowly like in a motherly advice. Seraphina teared up. " Thank ....y...you. Oh my God... I'm tearing up. I'm sorry." She said with a short laugh sniffing as her tears rolled while she tried wiping it off her face with her palms, Regina smiled. " It's okay to cry but not to much for the baby's health. You wouldn't want the baby to be very timid, would you?" Regina creased her brows as she stared at the teenager before her now a mother. " No. I can't make the child make the same mistake I made." Seraphina smiled sadly, making more tears cloud her eyes, she blinked them out, Regina hugged her. " It's okay. There are no mistakes in life, just lessons. And I believe you have learnt from life. You know...Life is like a book... Some chapters sad, some happy, and some exciting. But if you never turn the page, you will never know what the next chapter holds." Regina said patting her back as Seraphina calmed down, they disengaged from the hug. " Regina...thank you so much." She appreciated sincerely. "For what exactly?" Regina laughed. "Everything. Being a mother to me." She smiled the. her stomach growled loudly again, she stared down at it, she rubbed it with love in her eyes and a smile. 'I promise to make us out of this. Just hang in there for us.' She thought. "Before I forget, I brought some snacks with me. Here have some." She offered the bagel. "Thank you Regina. You're so kind." She said immediately munching on it. Regina sighed staring at her then patted her hair.
