I didn’t want to look. But I couldn’t stop. Cassian stood beside me, torch raised, his face carved in stone-shadowed lines as he studied the wall. The carvings stretched from floor to ceiling, etched into the stone like veins, each one glowing faintly now that we were here. Not bright. Just enough to prove they were waiting. Waiting for someone who could see them. Someone like me. Cassian didn’t speak for a long time. When he finally did, his voice was low.
