527 Words
The next evening, Rosalie entered Voss Tower against every instinct she possessed, against every warning screaming in her head but Victor Arden was still alive and that meant she had no choice.A guard escorted her through corridors lined with black marble and gold, everything about the building felt cold like a beautiful prison finally she was shown into Damien's office he didn't look up."You're late."Rosalie clenched her jaw."I came as fast as I could, Where's my father?" "Safe."Relief flooded her, for exactly three seconds. Then Damien continued."For now."The relief vanished. "What do you want?"Damien leaned back."Your father owes four million crowns." "I don't have that kind of money." "I know." "Then why am I here?" Silence, Damien studied her like she was an item being inspected before purchase. Finally he spoke. "Your father offered an alternative arrangement."Rosalie felt sick. "What arrangement?"Damien's voice remained calm. Almost casual. "As repayment, he transferred custody of all remaining assets." a terrible feeling settled over her. "What assets?"Damien held her gaze. "You."The room went silent, Rosalie laughed a sharp, disbelieving sound "You can't be serious." "I am." "I'm a person." "Legally, your father signed the agreement."Rage exploded inside her. "He doesn't own me." Damien remained unmoved, the more emotional she became, the calmer he seemed. "I wasn't asking your opinion." For the first time in years, Damien saw genuine hatred directed at him, not fear, but who cares she's his property now he doesn't give a damn whether she agrees or not. Rosalie stepped closer to his desk. "Never" Instead of answering, Damien opened a file."Your apartment lease expires next month." She froze. "Your bank account is overdrawn."Silence. "Your father owes everyone in the city."Each word struck harder. "You have nowhere to go." Damien stood towering over her power radiating from every movement. "You will stay at Hollowridge Manor until I decide otherwise." Rosalie's heart pounded fear finally breaking through her anger, Damien Voss was a man who took whatever he wanted, and never expected to hear the word no. Damien smiled to himself finally his little kitten has been caught, months ago his driver got a nosebleed and he had to get napkins they stopped at a convenience store that was when he saw her, bright, beautiful with a pale face and long black hair, helping an old lady across the road, her smile was dazzling, compared with those blue eyes she was perfect, his breath hitched, he was was captured by her beauty he couldn't take his mind off her for months, he looked for her around the province but there was no sign of her any where. Lord knows how happy he was when he saw her at Victor's house today how could he let the opportunity slip, same reason he made deadbeat of a father sign her over before the other the other people he owed come knocking and take her away instead, but it turned out his little kitten was fierce. Hours later, as a black car carried her toward Hollowridge Manor, Rosalie stared out the window, the city lights blurred through tears she refused to shed, everything was gone her home, her future, and most importantly her freedom.
