The air in the conference room felt dense, heavy with the weight of expectation. I adjusted the collar of my blazer, trying to ignore the dozens of eyes on me. The department heads sat around the long, glossy table, their laptops open, papers scattered in front of them.
This was my first high-level meeting at Carter Group as the soon-to-be CEO. Every move I made mattered.
