SECOND CHANCE

CHAPTER 1:Homecoming

(Kai returns to willow creek)

Kai stepped off the old pickup truck,dust swirling around his boots,he smiled faintly and murmured "Home".

The town looked smaller,unchanged ,the diner still served burgers,the pack still had kids playing and laughing,but kai,he wasn't the same.

A scandal has ended his football dreams,left him with nothing,he had lost his scholarship,friends,his identity.The memories still stung-the accusations, the whispers,the lost opportunities.

As he walked down the main street whispers followed,eyes turned,isn't that Kai Harris??.., voices said with curiosity,

The local mechanic "Joe looked and nodded gruffly,"Kai,heard you are back",Kai forced a smile"yeah,will be fixing the old place he said.

He needed a plan,a job,a fresh life.He spotted Jamie across the street, pushing a stroller,she looked up,eyes locked in,boom old sparks resurface,they had been inseparable in high school -prom king and queen,best friends and more,what happened?..

Jamie's face hardened,she crossed the street avoiding him."Kia Harris, welcome back to nothing" she muttered,not slowing down.

Kai's gut twisted,what was that,he stood there shocked, unable to comprehend what just happened, past memories flashing through his mind,Jamie has been his everything,then the scandal broke,she must have believed the rumors, he had cheated on a test,lost his scholarship but he had been framed as well but no one cared,he shook it off, time to move he said to himself.

CHAPTER 2

( Kai approaches jamie )

Days passed,Kai fixed up the old house,got a job at joe's garage,jamie avoided him completely.

One evening Kai decided to confront Jamie,he waited till jamie was done for the day as she walked out of the diner.

Kai: Hey we need to talk he said,Jamie kept walking without a turn,max (Jamie's little son) kept babbling in the stroller,No we don't she said anger running through her veins,Kai matched her pace " About what happened between us"

Jamie halted and turned for the first time "Nothing to talk about,Kai,she looked him directly in the eyes,eyes blazing " You left,end of story.

Kai frowned,"I didn't leave,I was gone,,framed for something I didn't do

"Semantics" jamie blurted.

You believed them,didn't you,Kai's face twisted with pain,I thought you knew me Jamie.Jamie's gaze dropped."I did,I guess I...I didn't she stuttered.

Kai moved closer "I didn't cheat ,you know me" he walked away Jamie stood there memories flashing through,one part of her still believed the rumors while the other wanted to believe Him.

CHAPTER 3

Jamie spent days thinking about what Kai had said,she was so confused and didn't know what to believe.

One sunny afternoon as she finished up with her afternoon shift at the diner,she checked out with her son in the stroller who was fast asleep,she hadn't gone too far when she noticed three men following her,even after several turns they still kept up with their chase,she became scared,not knowing what to do,she decided to walk through the alley which will make it more easier and faster to get home,she believed she could hide from the men trailing her but unfortunately she was cornered,no way out.

Meanwhile Kai,who had gone earlier to Jamie's house to check up on her happened to pass by the alley,at first he wasn't aware of what was happening,till he heard max cry,he immediately rushed into the alley,the scene before him made him so furious,tho Kai had lost everything he was still strong enough to take down these three men,and ward them off,preventing Jamie from further danger. He quickly rushed to Jamie who was bruised and slightly wounded,he took both mother and son home,treated Jamie's wounds and bruises,made food and fed her and her son.

CHAPTER 4

The days that followed,Kai took days off from joe's workshop and took over Jamie's place at the diner,took care of her till she was healed and able to return to work,Kai later found out that those men were sent by the people jamie owed and has not been able to pay up.

He helped her fix her broken fence and so many other things,jamie who was still in doubt's couldn't help but ask Kai why he was doing all that,i know you are still mad at me for leaving you,and besides

I'd do anything for you when we were high school you know,Kai moved closer held her hands,looked into her eyes and said,look Jamie I know I messed things up,but none of these was my plan,I was blackmailed,I've lost everything and everyone now I don't want to loose you too,I know we can still work things out,I've loved and will always love you Jamie,No! Jamie said, nothing's gonna work out,I have a son Kai,I'm a single mom, there's no way things would work out.......,Kai placed a finger on her lips and hushed her softly shhhhh.......,all these are not nothing compared to what we shared and the love I have for you Jamie,he leaned in and kissed her passionately,it was at that time that Jamie realized that Kai actually came back for her even after everything that has happened in the past.
