Chapter 3 I was getting off the phone from a long long call when Lucy came back in. She’d brought us more coffee, which was generous. But even listening to me on the phone had got Gabi quivering with rage. She didn’t need more caffeine. Lucy handed out the cups to us and one to Reg. “How’s it going?” she asked. “Not good,” I said. “The hire company doesn’t have another car available right now. They say they can get one to us tomorrow morning.” Lucy grimaced in sympathy. “Sorry about that.” “We could try to get a train. We’d get there very late though. Or not at all.” “Or you could stay here overnight,” Lucy said. “Well, not here, I mean locally. There’s a small town a couple of miles away. It has a couple of B&Bs. And you’ll be close by in case we get any news on the missing car.” “Y
