Chapter 11: Tempting Charlie

1382 Words
Ginger couldn’t get Bryan and her out of her head while driving to her enemies’ workplace. She remembered that she was being intimate with Bryan, but since she was drunk, she thought that it was just a silly and steamy dream about them. So she was surprised when she woke up wearing nothing but a blanket in an unfamiliar place. She shook her head and refused to accept that something had happened to them. Guilt washed over her because Bryan was her mother’s boyfriend. She was furious that Bryan took advantage of her situation and slept with her, knowing that Ginger was his girlfriend’s daughter. If Bryan loved Ginger’s mother, he wouldn’t have done that. Groaning, Ginger muttered, “Ugh…boys,” she sighed. “I couldn’t believe that I slept with a guy like that.” ᯓ★ Ginger rushed to the villain’s lair, breathing heavily because she was in a hurry and didn’t want to be late. If she wanted to stay longer in her enemies’ workplace and be successful with the execution of her revenge plan, then she would need to follow one of the codes of conduct, which was punctual. “Wait, hold the elevator!” Yelled, Ginger at the person who was about to enter the elevator while she was running. She was so busy catching her breath, she didn’t notice it was Charlie. Ginger just realized it when Charlie spoke. “Running late, are we, Lucy?” After hearing his voice and feeling his presence so close, she felt a pang of pain in her chest. She couldn’t believe that she was with the guy who broke her heart into pieces. It’s been months since they last spoke alone, except this time, Charlie hadn’t recognized her because Ginger faked her identity and is now known as ‘Lucy’. Charlie didn’t have any idea that he was being manipulated by Ginger, whose only intention was to take revenge. Ginger spun her head towards him and forced a smile. “But I made it, didn’t I?” Ginger looked at her watch and showed it to Charlie, who started eyeing her body, checking out the curves in the right place. When Ginger noticed what he was doing, she sighed in her mind. “I couldn’t believe I almost married this pervert!” Ginger thought in disbelief. “And I can’t believe that I was head over heels for him for 2 years! He is already married to Charlotte, and he’s eyeing other girls?!” So Ginger took this as an advantage to start seducing Charlie by pretending that she stumbled and pressed her chest against his arms on purpose. Ginger also made sure that Charlie could take a glimpse of her cleavage with her light-colored blouse with four unbuttoned buttons on the top, a short skirt, and stockings. “O-Oh, sorry about that. I accidentally fell,” Ginger said, and when their eyes locked, she batted her eyelashes and stepped back from Charlie. Charlie pretended to care and stepped closer to Ginger. He placed his hand on her arms and said, “Are you okay? You sure you can work today?” Ginger smiled innocently. “Yes, I’m fine,” she started. “You managed to catch me before I completely fall, so I’m alright.” When the elevator stopped and opened, Charlie removed his hands from Ginger’s arms and stepped out of the elevator. “As I expected. He cheated on me, and he’s doing it again with his wife?!” Ginger thought angrily while shooting him a glare as he walked. “I am really happy that I dodged this bullet.” Charlie stopped and then looked over his shoulder. “Aren’t you coming?” “Oh, sorry about that,” Ginger said and then walked behind him. “I’m coming. Where you’re headed is where I am going, anyway.” It didn’t take long before they finally arrived at Charlotte and Charlie’s office. Charlie tried to open the door, but it was still locked. “It seems that Charlotte is not yet here.” He pulled out a duplicate key from his pocket and started opening the door. “Good thing that you are prepared and have a duplicate key,” Ginger said and smiled. “At least, we can get inside the office while your wife is not yet here.” “Yeah, you’re right,” he responded. “And maybe, we could get to know each other well while she’s not yet here.” “I guess so,” Ginger responded. Charlie opened the door and let Ginger walk in first. “Ladies first.” “Why, aren’t you the gentleman?” “Nice men do that.” Ginger forced herself not to snort. “‘Nice men’, my ass. Didn’t know that leaving you when you’re struggling is nice. Is that the new norm? That’s messed up if so.” When they got in, Charlie turned on the lights and the aircon. Then he looked at the nearby sofa where Charlie and Charlotte often do things when no one’s watching. “Let’s take a seat there,” Charlie said, and Ginger nodded. With that, Charlie and Ginger sat down on the sofa and chatted. Suddenly, the door opened, revealing Charlotte. She looked at Charlie and at Ginger, a displeased look evident on her face. “What are you two doing?” Charlotte asked sharply while shooting daggers at Ginger. “Don’t be like that,” Charlie started and walked towards Charlotte, wrapping his arms around her waist. “We’re just getting to know each other, that’s all.” Even though Charlotte and Charlie were already married, Charlotte was cautious because she knew what Charlie had done to his ex-fiance, whom they thought had died — Ginger. “If you say so,” Charlotte said. She looked at Ginger and said, “Your office is next to mine, and you can’t go in here without my permission. Understand?” For the sake of revenge and investigation about the money stolen from her business, Ginger swallowed her pride and nodded. “Yes, got it. Understood.” Ginger was just thankful that she wouldn’t be working with her enemy in the same room, or else, she might fail to keep her emotions intact and react impulsively. Some CEO choose to work with their Executive Assistant in the same room, but some CEOs prefer to work in a separate room and call their EA when they need something. ‘Maybe the reason why I had to work in a different room is just so my jerk ex and his snake wife could be intimate,’ she concluded as she was walking towards her office. She could imagine the two doing unholy things from inside their office. She could imagine Charlie pinning Charlotte against the wall while kissing passionately as they held their bodies tightly. Just the thought of that makes her heart ache. And with that, Ginger walked to her office and settled in her office stuff. ᯓ★ As she opened her office door, thick dust suddenly fell, making Ginger cough. “What the —?” She stepped further and switched the lights open. When her office was filled with light, her eyes widened in surprise, mouth agape. She was stunned because her office didn’t feel like an office at all. With the cobwebs on the ceiling, a dusty table, and tile floors that are cracked. It felt like she was in a small warehouse. Under the office table, she noticed and smelled a pile of trash, making her pinch her nose just so she wouldn’t smell it. “I cannot believe these two! Don’t they care about their employees? They didn’t even bother to clean up the mess!” “Oh, I forgot to tell you that you have to clean your office,” she heard Charlotte’s voice from behind her. When Ginger spun to face her, Charlotte was smirking as if she liked what she was watching. “Consider that as your first task and training.” By then, Ginger knew that her revenge journey wouldn’t be as easy as she had thought. “And once you’re done cleaning up, come to my office. We’ll discuss the rules and your first task as an Executive Assistant.
