Chapter 14: Something Truly Wild to Impress Me

2027 Words
*Demi Noell* My mind went into a candy-kissing trance, temporarily distracting me from reality to some extent. But as soon as Maverick pinned me against the cool, hard wall of the entrance hall, the world around us melted completely away. I could hear my own heartbeat thrumming wildly in my ears, drowning out everything else but the heat of his half-naked body pressing into mine. His lips crashed onto mine with an urgency I hadn't anticipated, a passionate ferocity that took my breath away and sent shivers cascading down my spine. It was like being devoured by a fire, each kiss igniting deeper cravings buried within me. His mouth moved against mine, skillful and demanding, as if he wanted to fuse our very beings. The chemistry between us sparked like electricity, crackling in the air with a tension that was palpable. My fingers tangled in his soft hair, pulling him closer, as my mind spun with a dizzying cocktail of fear and exhilaration. I had never been kissed like this—and certainly not with the backdrop of my looming secrets threatening to unravel everything. I moaned when I felt him press his hips harder to my core, and the feeling of his erect p***s teasing my greedy, pulsating c**t sent not only an explosion of sparks through my body, but also awoke the desire I had never felt before. Overwhelming lust, desire, need, however it is called, washed over me, and I moved my hips wanting him to tear the training clothes off my body and devour me whole, giving me all of him, showing how good it can be to be pleasured by Maverick - The Beast. His sexy groans added fuel to the fire when he moved his body with mine, dancing to the rhythm of our drumming hearts. My mind was blank, my blood boiling with desire, and my gums started to tingle. I wanted more, more of him, more of the bond, giving my all into this sweet connection the Goddess bestowed upon me. Then, suddenly, it was over. He pulled away slightly, his forehead resting against mine, breaths mingling in the quiet as if the entire world outside had vanished. "Goddess, please," he murmured, his warm breath sending flames licking at the edges of my restraint. "Don't take this away from me." The sincerity in his voice caused a rush of warmth to flood through me, igniting a fierce need to protect this moment at all costs. But as he planted a feather-like kisses around my lips, I felt the deep stirring of my vampiric instincts. My canines were elongating, aching to sink into the soft, inviting flesh of his neck. The mere thought of tasting him sent a surge of bloodlust coursing through my veins like wildfire. I squeezed my eyes shut, pressing my lips together to stave off the wild hunger boiling just beneath the surface. Gripping his shoulders tightly, I focused on the warmth emanating from him, a reality I didn't want to lose. I felt the power of my inheritance swirling in my eyes, turning my amber eyes into a golden lava I desperately tried to control. When I opened my eyes again, desperation clawed at my throat. I needed him to understand; I needed him to see me, all of me—the vampire princess with sparkly eyes and a tempestuous heart. But how could I possibly reveal that? Would he accept me like this? Would he look at me the same way knowing which family I belong to? The swirling emotions lacked adequate words. I felt fearful and liberated, consumed by the sheer magnetism of him and utterly terrified of losing him. "Maverick," I started, my voice shaky as I steadied my breath. "Why don't we go back? I–I left Kate, and your brother looked like he needed attention, a medical one." He sighed, pulling me even closer, no doubt feeling the tension thrumming between us. "The training… It's a bad idea, especially with all those unmated guys around you," he said, his eyes narrowing into a serious gaze, the playful demeanor from earlier gone. "I don't want them to ogle what's mine, Demi." I could sense the underlying jealousy simmering just beneath his words, a flame almost as intense as the one ignited in our kiss. And somewhere deep down, I found comfort in it. He cared. That realization tugged at my heart, but before I could respond, he took my hand, again intertwining our fingers with a possessive grip. "Let's get out of here," he said softly, leading me away from the chaos of the training center. Once we stepped outside, the pressure eased, but the tension lingered, hovering in the space between us. I could still feel the team's eyes on me, their glances filled with curiosity and something darker. The knots in my stomach twisted tighter. What if they could see through my facade? What if they found out the truth? Maverick stopped once we were safely out of sight, his expression softening as he turned to me. "Demi, I am sorry again for everything: the dinner, my brothers, and that stupid challenge," he sighed, showing me the different Maverick from the one from before. "...I want to show you something else, away from prying eyes." I nodded, heart racing again—not from fear, but anticipation. Even though he'd apologized to me earlier, part of me still couldn't understand why Maverick was showing me such a different side of himself in front of his brothers. A side where I felt that only by gaining the approval of his younger siblings would our bond have a future. But I decided to leave the questioning him about that for later. We bounded towards my room, hand in hand, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was teetering on an edge, about to leap into something entirely new and exhausting. As I entered my room, my breath caught at the sight of him simply standing there—dressed in snug training shorts, his muscles straining against his skin. The very sight of him ignited all the smoldering emotions from earlier. Desire coiled tight in my chest, battling against reason. I needed to play it cool, keep my composure. I glanced down, feeling the rush of frantic lust that only intensified with each passing second. "Go change," Maverick said, a hint of mischief in his voice. The way he looked at me made my cheeks flush, a surge of energy coursing through my body. "But hurry. I'm not good at waiting around." "Okay, okay! Give me a moment," I replied breathlessly, trying to mask the thrill that surged through me as he left, going to his room to do the same. As I turned to face the closet, I caught my reflection again—a strange girl with blazing orange eyes and sharp fangs desperately trying to contain the tempest within. "Please, just make it out without revealing my secrets, and I will reward you with everything I have," I whispered to myself, struggling to maintain my composure. I fished out the pill container and swallowed three from each pill, wincing at the bitter taste. If we keep going at this pace, I'll be off the suppressants in two days. I need to slow down or find another way to control my hunger. I slipped into my favorite sundress, the fabric flowing gently around my knees, a deceptive disguise for the chaos beneath. With one last look at myself, I schooled my features into a semblance of calm. I took a deep breath, ready to face the consequences of my decision. I hid the containers in my nightstand and made a mental note to call Hannah later. I need a backup plan in case I run out of pills, and she was the only one to help me in my situation. Maverick was waiting for me when I emerged, and the way his gaze roamed over me made my heart race. I had only a week—as daunting as that deadline felt—to find a way to balance my burgeoning feelings with the weight of my hidden truths. Each moment spent within the bubble of our connection felt dangerous yet irresistible, the possibility of revealing my true self looming over me like a thunderstorm. But I promised myself I wouldn't let fear dictate my actions. "You look stunning, Demi. I don't know how I'll survive the week without ripping your clothes off you and having my way with you." His gruff voice sent a shiver down my spine, and of course, that damn desire that pooled out of me onto my panties, spreading the scent of my arousal into the air. Maverick growled, obviously sensing it as his chest widened, his blue eye darkened, and the white one glowed slightly. "My thoughts exactly," I replied, equally impressed by his striking good looks in a dark green shirt with rolled-up sleeves and black jeans that not only highlighted his muscular legs, but I bet they also highlighted his sexy, ready-to-munch ass. "Let's keep it PG, at least for a day or two." Maverick chuckled at my suggestion and shook his head, causing his brown curls to fall over his forehead. This look made him even more tempting, and my body reacted even before my brain implied it. I reached up and put my fingers on his forehead, tracing slowly the pattern of the scars that go down the right side of his face. I felt him freeze, his eyes closed, and though I knew he wanted to appear unmoved, his racing heart gave him away. If he'd known I was a vampire and not a human, he probably wouldn't have allowed me even the slightest touch, and yet I was tracing the edges of his clefts with my fingers. "Will you ever tell me how?" I asked, but my voice trembled, and Maverick opened his eyes, staring at me with so much intensity and mixed feelings that I had trouble deciphering which one stood out the most: fear or unease. "Yes, but–– "he paused, and before I realized, he took my hand from his face, entwined our fingers, and with a fake smile added, "but not today. Today I want to show you something different about me." The hope in his eyes made me nod and smile, and I obediently followed him wherever he chose to take me. Still, my heart clenched only imagining how much pain he must have been in to sustain that injury, not to mention his eye, which, although completely blind, made me think that it is reaching my very soul every time its intensity is focused on me. "I'm not complaining, but if we're heading to a garage stuffed with high-end sports cars, just know it's nothing new or dazzling for me. Most Alphas flaunt their shiny collections like kids showing off their latest toys, and frankly, I expect a bit more to get my heart racing! You'll have to pull out something truly wild to impress me!" I chuckled, playfully nudging him as we strolled from the packhouse toward a building that looked suspiciously like a swanky garage meant for at least three flashy rides. "Maybe a vintage Batmobile? Now that's more like it!" "Well, that's good to know, Miss Tesla. But that building hides something completely different than cars. I think you might be impressed." He smirked when we stopped at the driveway and reached for a remote, clicking it to make the gate slowly open. His face radiated a mix of joy and worry, likely motivated by a strong desire to impress me. Oh gods, this guy could present me with a handmade, ugly card, and I'd be astonished. I wanted to comment on his remark about my Tesla, but when my eyes fell on the massive garage as it opened fully, all comments vanished, replaced by honest and utterly unexpected shock at what I saw inside. "Oh my, sweet strawberry sorbet and sprinkle-covered cupcakes, did you make all this?" I exclaimed, eyes wide as I took in the sight.
