I was shocked to wake up, feeling nothing but pain. In fact, I was shocked to wake up at all. Shouldn’t I be dead? My eyes slowly fluttered open, the world around me initially blurred. As things came into focus, I realized I was lying face down on a cold, stone floor… What the hell? I lifted my head slightly, only to be greeted by a throbbing headache. I looked around the room—it appeared to be a cell. I tried to push myself up, but as I moved my arms, I felt the heavy weight of chains. Glancing down at my wrists, I saw the iron shackles binding them. Why was I still alive? I pressed my hands against the cold floor and managed to sit up.
