Aria Daniel didn’t let go of me when he reached for his phone. His arm stayed firm around my waist, grounding me, as he scrolled through his contacts and then placed a call. “Victor,” he said when it connected. “Yes, sir.” “I need you at the house. Now.” A pause before Victor responded. “Understood. I’ll be there in ten minutes.” “Bring Elias and Noor.” “Yes sir.” Daniel ended the call and slipped the phone back into his pocket. For a moment, neither of us spoke. His thumb traced slow, absent circles against my side, as though reminding himself I was still here.
