Chapter 3: Meeting the Devil Once Again

With her trench coat, big bucket hat that covers most of her face, sunglasses and black face mask on, Eli entered their building carefully as much as possible. She quietly walked down the halls towards the elevator, as she didn't want to catch anyone's attention.
Yeah, she clearly doesn't want it and it clearly shows in her outfit for today.
Once she arrived at the elevator, Eli peeked on her sunglasses and made sure that no one is around. When she confirmed that the coast is clear, she immediately tapped the up button. She continuously scanned her surroundings while waiting for the lift to come down.
She just wished that no one is on the lift at this time—
A 'ting' sound snapped Eli off her thoughts. As soon as she faced the elevator, she almost got a heart attack when she saw a helper inside the elevator, smiling at her.
“Good morning, Ma'am! You're too early, huh”
Eli just awkwardly smiled at him and politely greeted him back. It surely creep the hell out of her.
She entered the elevator as soon as the helper went out and pressed the close button, hurriedly. Luckily, no one was in the elevator at this time.
Well, who would dare to go to work at 4 am? Hell, even the guards aren't mentally up at this hour.
It's just because of a certain disaster that happened last night, which probably made her boss go on monster mode. She didn't saw their reactions as she sprinted out of the venue out of embarrassment.
Well except for one. She wanted to turn back time and avoid that freaking ice cream.
Speaking of ice cream, the boy who spilled it was scolded by his parents but that brat just laughed at her. Before she went out, Eli saw the kid poking his tongue out and laughed like a little witch after.
“That brat, ” Seriously, Eli was so pissed at that kid. She wouldn't be like this if it wasn't for him. But what can he do? He's a child.
A minute later, Eli arrived at their department's floor. Since no one is still around, she went to his desk without having to worry about avoiding people. She dropped herself on her swivel chair and took a deep breathe.
She wasn't even planning to come here at work. But she also thought that she might look guilty for real if she doesn't. It can't change the embarrassment she did.
Eli wonders how could she handle this if people started to appear later.
Or if her boss came.
Eli rumbled her hair at the thought of her boss on her berserk mode. Unfortunately, that boss of her has a habit of firing people when pissed off. She chanted all kinds of prayers, even the before meal one, so her boss would be considerate and take it as an accident (which really is). She still needs this job and doesn't want to let it go yet.
“Ugh! Why do I have to mess up?!”
It was a major investor for cheese sake. She hasn't even apologize yet, and that makes him still in trouble.
Chills ran down on her spine when she remembered how irritated that investor looked. A horrific monster with a cake splashed on his face. That's how he looked like. She wasn't able to sleep because of it, adding another layer of black under her eyes.
She hopes that she doesn't encounter him anymore.
A few hours have passed, people started filling up the area. Some were chill, some were rushing up to their desks to finish their deadlined work.
Here's Eli, snoring on her swivel chair. She suddenly fell asleep while planning her scheme to avoid people in the office. But guess what? Her escape plan wasn't a success since people near her area noticed her. They prevented themselves from laughing at how their team head looked.
Messy hair, displaced sunglasses on her face, and a near dropping drool on the side of her mouth.
She wasn't about to wake up until her mighty friend arrived and came up to her with her signature screeching laugh, which caught everyone's attention.
Eli jolted up from her chair and stood up straight. She placed her right hand on her eyebrow level, saluting.
“Y-yes, Sir! I'm awake!”
Everyone was fighting off their laughter, except his friend, Diana. That's when she realized that she's adding another embarrassment to herself right now.
She cursed mentally. She immediately apologized to her workmates and sat abruptly on her chair. She wasn't even aware that she fell asleep.
“Yes, sir!” Diana teasingly imitated what Eli did earlier, earning a smack from the latter.
“Shut up.”
Eli looked at her watch and saw that it was already 8 o'clock. She wasn't aware that she fell asleep while waiting so she could execute his plan. What a waste.
Diana wiped her tears from laughing and sat on the desk beside her friend.
“What a miracle, you came earlier. Are you perhaps... avoiding someone?” Diana asked with a hint of teasing in her voice. Eli didn't answer her, instead, she gave him a deadly glare.
Diana wasn't affected by it, because her lovely little baby can only scare the sheet out of her, so she just laughed at her friend again.
“Ice cream chillin', chillin'. Ice cream— whoop!” she acted slipping while singing a famous girl group song, just to irritate her friend more, which she succeeded.
“You, a$$—”
Eli was about to hit her, when someone barged at their department's area, making her frozen on her place.
Her boss' secretary.
“Can I ask for your team head's attention? Boss is looking for her.”
Eli gulped hard. She knew it. She's doomed.
Eli took a deep breathe and exhaled hard. Her hands were sweating off, indicating that she's nervous. Who wouldn't? Her boss will definitely give her a heck of a scolding. She thought that she was gonna avoid this but the heavens seems like they don't want her to.
She attempted to knock on her boss' office door but every time she tries to, she'll chicken out and proceeds to pace back and forth, again.
What if he'll decide that he's not gonna give her monthly pay? What if he's gonna dethrone her as the team head of the marketing team? Or what if.... he'll fire her?
'Holy moly, no way!'
Eli was about to finally knock on the door but a certain someone suddenly pushed him out of the way and proceeded to open the door.
“What the f—”
'Holy moly of all mollies'
“You got a problem?... Oh, look who's here. That piece of trash who splashed her cake on me.”
This is the worst day ever.
