"Depart!" After administering the final dose of medicine, Luke, expressionless, uttered this command to the elf ferret hopping nearby.
With a shiver, the elf ferret immediately fell silent, looking at its still unconscious master with a look of grievance, then tremblingly moved aside.
As Eina drank the medicine, her tightly furrowed brow slowly relaxed. Sensing something cool, her lips curled slightly as she leaned toward the woman nestling into her arms. Luke's icy countenance paused for a moment at the cat-like languor in her expression, a heavy cold snort escaping his lips as he thought to himself, "Had it not been for your care that led to my illness, you would not dare to come near me."
Despite the chilling aura emanating from him, a hint of indulgence in his eyes was unmistakable.
Carefully adjusting Eina into a more comfortable position, Luke sat down and began tending to his own wounds. The injuries, already aggravated from earlier, undoubtedly worsened after the recent ordeal. Though he had sealed his pressure points and felt no pain along the way, the consequences of his actions were evident in his more severe injuries compared to the previous night.
But as he looked at his swollen leg, Luke couldn't help but smile bitterly. How could he, the dignified King of the Azure Wing, have fallen to such a state? Despite his immunity to ordinary pain, the sensation of thousands of needles piercing him simultaneously unconsciously furrowed his brow.
Once he was sure there were no major issues, with the sun already risen, Luke glanced at Eina, who had been quiet since taking the medicine. The flush on her face had receded, her brows relaxed, and a slight curl appeared at the corners of her mouth, as if she were dreaming something pleasant. Perhaps Luke's gaze was too domineering; the discomfort of sleeping Eina prompted her to pout uneasily, her curled eyelashes trembling like fans.
Opening her eyes, Eina beheld a man who, despite his disheveled appearance, still exuded an aura of unwavering dominance. Though not fully awake, Eina's drowsy eyes were as clear as water. Suddenly, she sweetly smiled and murmured softly, almost like she was dreaming, "You're very handsome."
No wonder Eina said so. From childhood to adulthood, she had been accompanied by a master whose temples were already graying, face creased with wrinkles. Even though she had encountered many modern things later on, the people there couldn't compare to the man before her now. His high, well-defined nose, tightly pressed thin lips, not overly fair skin, but most captivating were his eagle-like deep eyes, still brimming with focus.
Eina's dazed appearance and gentle tone pleased Luke. He chuckled softly.
"Hehe..."
The pleasing sound emanated from the depths of his heart, abruptly waking Eina from what she thought was a dream. How could she forget that the man before her, although strikingly handsome, possessed a heart harder than stone? Luke's laughter shattered Eina's illusion. This man was quick to take lives at the slightest provocation. Even though she might have been fine with it before, now that she was weakened, being treated like an ant to be squashed by him was no different (she completely forgot that even when healthy, one could still be treated like an ant to be squashed, hiahia, the author's shameless laughter). And Eina had reason to believe this man was not one to casually accept compliments. So she quietly explained, "Uh, I, I didn't recognize it was you just now, uh... could you wait until I'm better before settling the score?"
At that moment, she completely forgot that the night before, she was quite certain this man wouldn't kill her.
The pitiful look in Eina's eyes finally broke Luke's composure. He couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"Hahaha..."
If his subordinates were to see him laughing so recklessly, they would surely be flabbergasted, Luke thought to himself.
Eina couldn't fathom why her words were so amusing. Seeing that he had no intention of strangling her, Eina boldly rolled her eyes.
Just as she rolled her eyes, a cool hand suddenly touched her forehead. Eina's eyes froze as she stared blankly at that slender hand with lively white pupils.
She waited for that hand to fiercely slap her forehead, but after a moment, it withdrew without any ruthless action. Eina remained frozen in her previous eye-rolling position, unable to snap out of it for a long time.
"What's your name?" Ignoring the woman's dazed state, Luke asked softly.
"Eina," Eina mechanically replied.
"Well, remember, I'm called Luke, but you can call me Mo." Luke leaned close to Eina's ear, his charming voice devoid of its usual coldness, instead filled with mockery.
It seemed this little creature was quite interesting. A beam of light flashed through Luke's mind. Wasn't she trying to make him her pet from the first moment she saw him? Now, a brilliant idea made Luke's mood much better.
Let her be his pet. With her around, his future path should not be boring.
Eina didn't respond.
"Come on, say it once." Knowing that Eina didn't trust her own eyes, Luke requested.
"Mo." Eina still hadn't snapped out of it.
"Good, from now on, you're mine. Remember?" Luke was very satisfied with her cooperation and continued making demands.
"I remember." Eina, still lost in her stupor, unwittingly sold herself off.
Seeing his master's pathetic appearance, the elf ferret was furious. It knew its master was naive, but never expected her to sell herself and even count the money for others.
The squeaking finally brought Eina back to her senses. Just as she became conscious, the previous scene rushed back like a tide. Eina had just regained her composure when she scared herself again. What had she done? How could she agree so easily to this man's demands?
This i***t, Eina reached out to grab her own hair.
This was her habit. Whenever she regretted something, she would unconsciously grab her hair.
Before she could even touch her own silky black hair, Luke's smiling eyes suddenly turned cold. He seized Eina's hand, his tone unquestionable, "No pulling. From now on, without my permission, you are not allowed to hurt yourself. Understand?"
Eina couldn't understand how someone who had been so sunny just moments ago could exude such coldness in the next. Indeed, this was the person she had come to know over the past two days, the type who would never tolerate anyone's refusal. Even if she protested, it would be invalid. Eina nodded reluctantly.
"That's obedient. Little one, if you behave well, your master will reward you." With a rewarding pat on Eina's head, Luke's tone was unusually indulgent.
"I'm not a thing, I have a name." Although she had to bow her head in someone else's house, Eina insisted on fighting for her rights.
Hearing her softly complaining, Luke didn't get angry as usual, but patiently explained, "Your name is for others to call you. I am your master, so naturally, I should have a different name for you, one that is
exclusive to me."
Although Eina had seen little of the world, she knew there were people who stood above all others, and they would never allow anyone to refuse them. The person before her was undoubtedly the epitome of such individuals. Knowing that even if she protested, it would be futile, Eina reluctantly nodded.
