Chapter Ten: Be My Woman

1039 Words
As the golden sun rose, they both avoided mentioning the incident that had occurred in that moment. For Ena, she believed it must be a deep-seated pain in Luke's heart, one that couldn't bear any touching. She thought that each mention would cause him to suffer anew, and she couldn't bring herself to be so cruel. Luke, on the other hand, didn't feel it necessary to tell her. After all, she was just his pet for the time being. Due to their discomfort, they spent the next few days recuperating in the same place. Ena watched Luke's painful transformation time and time again, and each time, she couldn't help but hate her own helplessness. She couldn't alleviate his pain, which made her resolve silently to take care of him no matter how angry he might become in the future. Every time Luke woke up, the first thing he saw was Ena's tearful face and the naked concern in her eyes. The feeling of being cared for was truly wonderful to him. As a result, Luke's periods of wakefulness during his transformations became longer, and the pain he endured gradually lessened. Five days later, Ena was amazed to see Luke, who was already moving freely. His recovery ability was truly remarkable. The saying goes that it takes one hundred days to recover from serious injuries, but watching the Blue-winged King move so briskly, Ena couldn't help but question the validity of that widely believed truth. What surprised Ena the most, however, was Luke's attitude. Not only had he wanted to strangle her more than once, but even afterward, he had never shown her a friendly face. Yet now, she watched as Luke, towering and mighty, approached her carefully with several cleaned wild fruits in hand. Ena couldn't fathom why his attitude had changed so drastically in just a few days. Handing her the fruits, Luke couldn't help but chuckle as he watched her lost in thought. He even went so far as to place one of the fruits into her mouth when she remained distracted. Seeing her puffed cheeks as she chewed, Luke's eyes darkened with an inexplicable emotion. Memories of the first time he had fed her medicine flooded back, stirring up an indescribable heat from deep within him. Although he was not one to indulge in self-pity, Luke was not oblivious to the desires between a man and a woman. With this in mind, Luke lowered his head and found Ena's lips, which were still swollen from their previous contact. With a thud, Ena's heart skipped a beat as she stared at the enlarged face in front of her. His healthy skin had no impurities, and just looking at it felt smooth and comfortable. She couldn't help but wonder how it would feel to touch. Lost in her thoughts, Ena barely noticed as Luke increased the pressure on her lips. Despite her distraction, she found herself unable to resist, and her lips emitted an unintentional moan. Hearing Ena's involuntary sound, Luke's eyes filled with amusement. Her innocent reaction brought him great joy, and the cold, hard aura surrounding him dissipated without his notice. "Silly girl, breathe," Luke finally released her reluctantly, his voice low. After hearing his words, Ena gasped for breath as if awakening from a dream, pounding her chest vigorously. After a while, when she had finally caught her breath, she asked in confusion, her voice slightly hoarse, "Why are you treating me like this?" Due to her recent emotional turmoil, Ena's voice was slightly hoarse, but it carried a unique allure. Luke, who had just suppressed his thoughts, found himself tempted once again. He struggled to suppress the heat within him and asked, "Has anyone ever treated you like this before?" Ena shook her head. Although he had already guessed the answer, Luke smiled at her admission. He continued, "Do you like it when I treat you like this?" Ena hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Since you enjoy it, does it matter why I treat you this way?" Luke's voice was somewhat cold. "But... we're not familiar with each other. How can I be your woman?" For the sake of her own happiness, Ena continued to oppose him fearlessly. Ena's timid appearance caused Luke's efforts to dissipate instantly. He lightly touched her still swollen lips and chuckled softly, "Hehe, in that case, are we not familiar with each other?" Seemingly persuaded by his words, Ena's innocent nod plunged Luke into another bout of joy. It seemed he had unintentionally gained a treasure. Understanding her was a top priority if he wanted her to be completely his. Therefore, Luke asked, "Where are you from?" "China," Ena replied, still not fully recovered. "China?" Luke looked at Ena's eyes with confusion. Her pure eyes showed no hint of deception, which meant she wasn't lying. He continued, "As far as I know, there are only three countries on the Tianhe Continent: Chaofeng, Linjun, and Lanhan. There is no China as you mentioned. Are you sure you haven't remembered it wrong?" Luke asked while gently caressing Ena's rosy cheeks, lost in thought. Although they had only spent a few days together, Luke had already grasped Ena's simple character. She was not good at lying, which meant that what she said was true. Ena must really come from the country she mentioned. But if that was the case, was there a place in the Tianhe Continent that he didn't know about? Aware of his doubts, Ena lacked further evidence to prove herself. These past few days, she even wondered if her first twenty years were merely a fleeting dream, a nonexistent existence. However, her mentor, who treated her like his own daughter, and the elf by her side, all bore witness to her reemergence in this unfamiliar era. Seeing Luke's contemplative expression, Ena's heart sank. For some reason, his failure to nod made her feel increasingly uneasy. Hastily, she explained, "What I said is true. I don't understand why I am here either. Just a few days ago, I was unmistakably mauled by a brown bear. Yet, upon waking, here I am, without a scratch. Even Little Black has followed me. You must believe me; I have not deceived you."
