"Pregnant?" I stammered, moving back to avoid another hit. Jessica suddenly started laughing, and so did her mother. "Yes, mam, you are two months gone," the doctor explained, not letting go of Annie, who wanted to hit me so badly. I knew I was dead if I left the bed, so it was only necessary to keep my hands to myself. "Hope Kevin isn't the owner of the baby in your womb." Jessica grabbed me by the shirt, pulling me out of the bed and onto the floor.
"Help me!" I yelled as she pounced on me, striking me severely on the back.
"Security," the doctor called out, not letting go of Annie to reduce the casualty of me dying. Two hefty men walked in, and with a swing of their arms, they grabbed both Annie and Jessica, throwing them out of the ward.
"The weak shouldn't be preyed upon." The doctor brought out a syringe from one of the drawers and injected me on the shoulder. She had a mischievous smile on her face as the content slid away from the syringe and into my body.
"What did you do to me?" I grabbed her collar. She didn't reply; her smile was still there, and I was slowly drowning in the world of slumber.
The smell of wolf bane woke me up from my deep slumber. I veered around, and I wasn't in the hospital anymore. "Mom, the wench is finally awake." Jessica's voice explained it all. I was back at home with the people who hated me the most.
"Just tell me Kevin isn't the owner of the baby in your womb, and I will let you live," Jessica threatened, pointing her claws at me. There was nothing I could say that could please her, so I just kept silent.
Annie didn't waste time throwing out all my belongings. My father just stood there, watching the whole scenario. "Get out of my house. You ungrateful bastard," Annie uttered, grabbing my hair and leading me out of the house. It always amazed me how they could be so wicked and dubious in character. They were the worst choice of wives one would wish to have.
Everyone in the neighborhood watched as they sent me out of the house. They were all involved in it, and to show how passionate they were about sending me away from the neighborhood, they cheered Annie and Jessica on. I pleaded to stay just a night with them, but they didn't listen, and to make matters worse, they chased me with weapons such as swords and spears.
"Why are you doing this?" I asked, increasing my pace.
"You should be aware by now that no one wants you. Father never liked you, so let's just say we are doing this for everyone's sake," Jessica uttered, perplexed by everything that's been going on.
"You are just the same as the masses. Preying on the weak to rise.".
"That is society for you. Taking you out of the picture is taking out the trash. Who doesn't want a life free from trash like yourself?" Annie said as she and Jessica cornered me. I had reached the edge of a cliff, and even the slightest movement could cause my downfall.
"I just want to say thank you for letting me live with you and your family, Annie. That's the only reason I am alive, and as for you, Jessica, fear my return," I spat out with a smile on my face.
"Talking big at your last minute. That's very brave," Jessica let out, unleashing her sword from its case.
"Goodbye everyone," I said, jumping off the cliff.
Under the cliff was a forest; in short, I managed to survive the fall. The terrain wasn't much of a crop builder but that of an animal harbor. To survive, I had to kill anything that looked edible and make a sumptuous meal of soup from it. The trees made a perfect fort, which I cut down and used to build myself a little cottage to rest in.
A knock on the door caught my attention as I hurriedly grabbed my pocket knife, my only weapon against stronger beasts. With a heave, I pushed the door open to see who or what was disturbing my peaceful afternoon. Right before me stood a man in a red-colored knight's robe, and behind him were ten other knights in dark-colored knight's robes. He kicked the pocket knight straight out of my hands and went back to his stance.
"The name is Nathaniel Nova." He stretched his hand forth for a handshake, which I didn't hesitate to give. It had been two months since I last saw a human, and that was driving me far more crazy than anything.
"What are you doing here in the woods? Did you get lost or something?" I asked, trying to be nice.
"We are just here for the both of you," Nathaniel replied, gazing at me in the eye.
"Both? I live alone. I am the only one living in this little cottage, so where the heck did you get that from?" I questioned, veering around to check if any other person was around.
"That is a typical lie coming from you," he pondered, shutting me up completely.
"I beg your pardon. You can't just come here and claim that I live with someone else," I protested.
"What about the baby in your womb, or is it dead already?" Nathaniel went further, moving towards me.
"How do you know about the baby? Have you been stalking me? What's your plan?', I questioned, trying to gain data from him.
"Wrong question, darling." A smirk appeared on his face. He placed his hands on the walls of the cottage in such a way that I became the obstacle between him and the wall.
"Just who the hell do you think you are?" I yelled as he leaned forward. His face was close to mine, and I could feel fear building up in me.
"Don't tell me you don't recognize the father of the baby in your womb.".
