Chapter 60: Missing Her Other Mate

756 Words

-Wylder- I didn’t like the almost broken look on my mate’s face. Of course, I didn’t want her to feel bad. I wanted her to be happy, but I also hoped that Killian had given up. I hoped he’d thrown in the towel and just handed her over to me. It would make a lot of things easier, and with how quiet it had been, it could be possible he had admitted defeat. But then again, I didn’t quite believe it either. It wasn’t like Killian to give up. “Probably not,” I said, even though those words were harder to say than anything else. I knew if I had lied and said he had, it might just have made her mad at Killian and want to shut him out, but I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t bear to see her turn sadder than she already was. “No?” she whispered, hope in her voice. “No,” I replied. “Why not?”
