I didn’t like the almost broken look on my mate’s face. Of course, I didn’t want her to feel bad. I wanted her to be happy, but I also hoped that Killian had given up. I hoped he threw in the towel and just handed her over to me. It would make a lot of things easier, and it seemed with how quiet it had been it could be possible he had admitted defeat, but then again… I didn’t quite believe it either. It wasn’t like Killian to give up. He might not have a lot of patience, but he was so determined, and I knew that giving up was not something he did. That we had in common. I didn’t want to break Helena’s heart either, so I shrugged a little.
“Probably not,” I said, even though those words were harder to say than anything.
If I lied and said he had, it might just have made her mad
