I sighed as I ended the call for the third time… My father wasn’t answering, and I didn’t believe he would. Wylder, with his minor obsessive-compulsive disorder, couldn’t let the journals go, though, and had become obsessed with them after our talk.
I had left the office shortly after and went to see if I could find some answers from my father. I wasn’t surprised he didn’t pick up. I didn’t think I could actually get ahold of him, and I felt a little relieved that I actually couldn’t.
I didn’t want to talk to him. I didn’t ever want to hear his voice again, but Wylder was right. When we didn’t have Helena between us, then we fled from one another. We reverted to hating each other, and… and that might actually become dangerous at some point.
