The Masterpiece

224 Words
The penthouse studio on the top floor of Vance Tower was silent, save for the rhythmic scratch of Aria’s stylus against the digital drafting tablet. Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating blueprints scattered across the massive glass desk. Dante stood near the doorway, holding two cups of black coffee. He watched in silence as Aria worked. Her eyebrows were furrowed in fierce concentration, her fingers moving with absolute precision. Gone was the hesitation in her eyes; in its place was a fiery brilliance. "You haven't slept in twenty-four hours," Dante said softly, stepping into the room and setting a cup beside her tablet. Aria didn't break her gaze from the screen. "Julian and Chloe took my previous blueprints, but those were outdated. They don't understand structural resonance or eco-integrated facades." She tapped the screen, causing a three-dimensional rendering of a stunning, futuristic coastal complex to expand in brilliant light. "This is the project I’ve kept in my head for five years," Aria whispered, looking up at Dante. "Julian thought he ruined me when he threw me out, but he actually freed me." Dante leaned over the desk, looking at the complex design, then down at her. A rare, genuine smile touched his lips. "Julian didn't just throw away a genius, Aria," Dante said, his voice low and firm. "He handed me his executioner."
