4 Without fail Bobby always arrived at the office in the morning before I did, unlocked the doors and made the coffee. So it seemed strange this day he wasn’t there. I put the coffee on and when he still hadn’t shown, called him. I got his voice mail. Beginning to feel concerned, I told myself there were a number of reasonable explanations why he hadn’t appeared: he overslept, was ill, had car trouble, or he might have experienced a host of situations that didn’t readily come to mind. But whatever the reason, shouldn’t he have called in? I wasn’t clairvoyant, didn’t have a psychic bone in my body, but something just didn’t feel right. I was worried. I dug out the sign from the closet that read: No Receptionist Today. Please Have A Seat. I’m In Session. Will Be With You Shortly. Signed, G
