Chapter 15 Dinner was to be a more formal affair tonight, so Cassie and I dressed in our best gowns. In the excitement of our preparations, my friend seemed to have forgiven my earlier interference. "What do you think?" She held up two decorative hair combs. "The burgundy feathers or the marcasite?" "The marcasite strikes me as more elegant and complements the jet beading on your gown." "Do you think…Mr. Kendall will like it?" She blushed. "I know you don't approve of him, but once you come to know him, perhaps you'll change your mind."
