Episode 5

Clara's point of view.

I woke up with the help of the sunlight that shinned into my room. I checked the time from the new wall clock I bought yesterday and it read 07:25. I got up and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and have a quick bath. I got dressed into a simple yellow short gown after wearing my underwear. I sat on my bed and brought out a company card. I took out my phone and copied the number on the card into my phone before dialing the number. The phone rang for sometime before someone picked it.

"Good morning sir, This is Clara Gabriel speaking." I said politely.

"Oh Clara! You are back. I actually thought you were not coming again but it is nice for you to keep your promise." A man's voice came on the line.

"Thank you sir. Sir, do I still have the job?" I asked my boss.

"I am sorry no. What were you expecting? You were gone for six months but I can fix you up into the accounting department but I will say, the pay has changed." My boss said to me over the phone.

"No problem sir. I can do with that. So sir, when am I to resume?" I asked him.

"Why don't you come see me at the office by 10:00 am today and we will discuss. I like your potential and that is why I am offering you this job so don't fail me." He said sternly.

"Yes sir. I will be there by 10. See you later." I said and hung up. What a blessing in disguise because I am very sure that if it was not because I helped him return his ATM card when it fell from him, I would not be receiving this favour. I smilled broadly. I left my room and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. I made Toast bread and milk. The kids love milk a lot. I served the meal and went to give Joe his. I also instructed him to order me a an uber. I walked into the house and met the kids at the sitting room.

"Good morning mum." They both greeted. How sweet of Riella to adapt.

"Morning sweeties, how was your night?" I asked as I pecked them both on the cheeks.

"Fine, great." They both answered.

"Have you brushed your teeth?" I asked them as they were in their pyjamas.

"Yes mum". They both answered.

"Okay, lets go to the dinning table, breakfast is ready." I said and led the way. We all had breakfast and when we were done I took the dishes to the kitchen sink to wash. I came out and met the kids relaxed watching TV and just then the door bell rang and I went to open the door and came face with the housekeeper I employed the last time I was here.

"Good morning ma." She said bringing in her luggages when I paved way for her to come in.

"Good morning Isabel." She is the only one among my workers that I can remember her name and maybe it is because it is an English name.

"Come with me." I said and gestured to her to follow me while I lead the way to the living room.

"So, these are my kids, Dabriella and Ria. This is Riella, I said pointing to Jane and that is Ria, I pointed at Jamaima.

"Kids, this is Isabel. Your new nanny when I go to work and the house keeper." I said to them.

"Good morning Isabella." They greeted with smiles.

"I never said Isabella but Isabel." I said to the kids.

"No, its okay. I can also be called Isabella." She said.

"Okay, if it is fine by you and by the way call me Clara please."

"No ma, I can't say that. You are my boss so it is inappropriate of me." She immediately declined.

"Please call me Clara. I don't mind. Remember the room you used the last time, that will be your room." I said to her and she nodded dragging her box off with her. I really like her and the two months I spent with her was a wow, always advising me like a friend. I went to my room to dress up for work. I changed my clothes into a black skirt, white shirt that was tucked into the skirt with black flats to match. I carried a shoulder bag putting the necessary things I need there. I came out after packing my hair into a ponytail. I met Isabel in the living room with the kids.

"Isabel, they have not had their bath so make sure they do." I said

"Okay ma." she answered.

"Mum, where are you going to?" Ria asked me.

"For an interview. Don't trouble Isabel and stay in door until I am back." I said pecking them both on their cheeks. I bid Isabel good bye and went out of the house. Just like I expected, I met the uber driver waiting for me. I waved at Joe and got into the car. I asked him to drive me to Colemanat industry.

We got there few minutes later and I came out of the car and went into the company. I went straight to his office with the elevator as he as been expecting me.

Few minutes later I came out with a smile on my face. I got the job and we discussed the pay after he stopped thanking me about his ATM. We also talked about the company and other things before I left. I came out and got into the car back after checking the time, it turned out to be 12:00 pm.

"Ma, did you get the job?" The uber driver who I had asked to wait till I'm back asked me as he drove out of the company.

"Yes I did and I am to resume on Wednesday. I actually I've a car but I have no one to drive me around because obviously, I don't know my way around."

"Congratulations ma'am. I have someone who can drive you around if you offer him a good pay madam. He said and I hummed.

"Okay but how do I contact him?" I asked, my eyes beaming with interest.

"I will ask him to come over to your home tomorrow, if you don't mind of course." He said and I nod to tell him its okay.

"Okay, so he will be very early and I promise, he is very efficient." The driver said and I nod.

"Alright." I resign graciously.

He nod and continued driving. The rest of the drive was silent and I ended up dosing off in the car.

I opened my eyes as the driver drove the car into the compound. I came down from the car with my bag and responded to Joe's greetings when Ria and Riella came out of the house running towards me. They both hugged me at the same time and I pecked their cheeks. I met Isabel at the door and she collected my bag.

"Thanks Isabel but give me my bag." I said and collected my bag from her and entered the house fully.

"So mum, did you get the job?" Riella asked me.

"Yes I did and I am to resume on Wednesday." I said happily.

"CONGRATULATIONS mum." The kids beamed with joy.

"CONGRATULATIONS ma." Isabel said and I gave her a smile.

"Have you two eaten?" I asked them.

"Yes mum. Isabel Cooked pasta and chicken sauce and it was very delicious." Ria said to me smiling. She's a foodie.

"Isabel is a very good cook." Riella complimented.

"I know. Let me go freshen up so I can taste the delicious meal. Isabel please serve my meal, I will be right back and you look good when blushing." I said when I caught her blushing before leaving to my room. When I got into my room, I peeled off my clothes and had a quick shower. I came out and wore the yellow gown I wore earlier in the morning and my black flip flops before leaving my room to the dinning. I settled down and set to eat. The meal was very delicious. When I finished eating I took the used dishes to the kitchen and washed it myself. I don't like keeping my kitchen dirty. When I was done, I found my way to the living room and met the kids watching TV. I joined them before Isabel came in.

" Ma, you washed the dishes," she said more or less like a question.

"Yes I did and I have hands." I said when I know she will protest saying it is her work. "Isabel, did you serve Joe food?"

"Yes ma." she said.

"So, I really enjoyed the meal. What will you be cooking for dinner?" I asked her.

"Poundo yam and melon soup. Remember the last time you were here, I told you I will prepare it for you."

"Yes and I can't wait to taste it." I said licking my lips while she laughed.

"Isabel, I want the kids to also go to school but I don't know any school around." I said with a worried expression.

"What!!!!" Ria said her eyes widening at what I said.
