Alessandra’s Suspicion.
As Alessandra rushed into Lorenzo's quarters, her emerald eyes flashing with rage, the tension in the room was oppressive. Sitting by the fire, Lorenzo's golden eyes reflected the flickering flames, yet the storm inside him was barely concealed by the serene demeanor he presented.
Alessandra growled and slammed the door behind her, saying, "You're allowing her to undo everything we've worked for." Sharp and accusatory, her voice sliced through the air like a whip.
Slowly, Lorenzo turned, a veneer of indifference covering his features. "I have no idea what you're discussing."
Alessandra's laugh was poisonous and empty. Don't be evasive with me, Lorenzo. You're simply... observing Isabella as she worms her way back into the pack's favor!
"She's not doing anything that should worry you," Lorenzo said in a level voice.
With her voice lowering to a perilous whisper, Alessandra took a step closer. "Your authority is being undermined by her." She gets greater ground each time you falter and do not take action. She is beginning to get attention from the seniors.
Lorenzo's hands at his sides clenched into fists as his jaw grew stiff. His mind was a battleground of opposing emotions, so he didn't react right away. Despite his better judgment, Isabella's reappearance had rekindled something inside of him that he was unable to control.
Alessandra studied him, her eyes narrowing. With a tone of incredulity, she charged, "You're protecting her." "Why? Are you still interested in her?
Unflinching, Lorenzo's golden eyes met hers. She is not the subject of this. The pack is the focus. Maybe we wouldn't be having this discussion if you spent more time leading and less time plotting.
Alessandra's mouth twisted into a scowl, but she controlled herself. "All right," she answered icily. "I'll handle her if you won't."
Lorenzo leaned back as she swept out of the room, his expression of indifference briefly breaking. Between his obligation as alpha and the irresistible pull of his relationship with Isabella, his heart was heavy with strife.
The flickering candlelight created sweeping shadows on the stone walls of Alessandra's private quarters. Her piercing eyes swept over each of her devoted allies as she stood at the head of the table. Ever obedient, Marco listened with his arms folded and leaned against the distant wall.
With a stern tone, Alessandra started, "We can't allow Isabella to continue to influence the pack." "Everything we've built is at risk just by her existence. It is imperative that we publicly discredit her.
One of the younger wolves shifted uneasily. She is beginning to gain favor with the pack. She is... powerful.
He was silenced by Alessandra's look. "Without loyalty, strength is meaningless," she yelled. "And we will demonstrate to them that she has none."
Her voice grew softer, almost pleasant, as she turned to Marco. "You'll sow doubtful seeds. Spread tales that she deceived us for power and that she left Montelupo to join the rogues. As long as it comes from someone they trust, the pack will believe it.
A smirk formed on Marco's lips as he nodded. "Think of it as finished."
Alessandra's face stiffened once again. "And when the time comes, we'll remind them of her place by drawing on her history as an omega."
As her words sank into her allies' brains, the room went silent. Despite Alessandra's unwavering confidence, there was a glimmer of jealousy below it.
Like embers strewn in the wind, the rumors began tiny but soon spread throughout the pack. Once a humiliated omega, Isabella had fled Montelupo to hang around with outlaws. She was an unfaithful wolf that betrayed her kind.
As Isabella passed past the training grounds, she heard the whispers. It was obvious from the sidelong stares and the whispered tones. The understanding made her fists clench at her sides. This was no accident. This was intentional.
Her emerald eyes narrowed as she whispered under her breath, "Alessandra."
The parts came together with a click. This was the result of Alessandra's manipulations, jealousy, and desperate attempt to maintain her position of authority.
Isabella spun around abruptly, her heart racing with resolve. Alessandra was gravely mistaken if she believed that lying would help her win this fight. Isabella would defend herself, and she wouldn't keep anything back this time.
A group of pack members had gathered in the area, and the atmosphere was tense. Isabella stood in the middle, looking at the faces in front of her with her keen green eyes. The charges hung heavy and sticky in the air like smoke.
With a shrill and contemptuous voice, one man spat, "She left us to join the rogues." "Now, how can we trust her?"
A younger wolf, just out of puberty, gave a passionate nod. "Traitor," he mumbled to himself, eliciting nods of agreement.
Isabella raised her hand, calming the gathering with her authoritative presence. With a calm yet sharp tone, she questioned, "Is that what you believe?" "That I voluntarily left my pack?"
Even the most audacious of her accusers hesitated at the weight of her voice. She took a step forward, her stance firm. "You are familiar with me. You have witnessed my hardships and my devotion to Montelupo. Was I expelled or did I depart?
There was an uneasy shift in the crowd.
"And consider this: who gains from these lies?" Isabella went on, raising her voice. "Who benefits from the separation while you quarrel and turn against one of your own? Alessandra desires for us to be divided. Controlling a pack that is self-conscious is simpler.
Doubt flickered in several of the group's eyes as a whisper went around them.
A more courageous wolf, a female with gray flecks in her coat, squinted. Isabella, you are a strong woman. However, words by themselves won't demonstrate your loyalty.
Isabella stepped up and challenged, "Then test me." "Give me the opportunity to prove myself, and I'll go if I don't succeed. But maybe you'll see who the real traitor is if I succeed.
After staring at her for a while, the older wolf gave her a hesitant nod. As the crowd's rage subsided, uncertainty took its place. Isabella sensed that the tide was turning because she had sown the seeds of mistrust.
Tension was high at the pack meeting, which took place in the big hall. With a regal and authoritative stance, Alessandra stood at the center of the room. Isabella was a force to be reckoned with as she stood among the pack members.
With a hint of fake warmth, Alessandra's voice sounded silky. With her green eyes darting to Isabella, she stated, "We need to deal with the loyalty issue within the pack." "Some people among us aim to sow discord and erode our solidarity."
Isabella kept quiet, her face composed as she looked directly into Alessandra's eyes. She was obviously provoked by the statements, but she didn't fall for it.
An older man cleared his throat. "Alessandra, please share any proof of disloyalty you may have. Otherwise, there is no purpose to this discussion.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Alessandra's smile returned. She answered with ease, "For the time being, some things are better left unsaid."
Isabella could see Alessandra's annoyance mounting and her poise eroding. Isabella's quiet strength simply added to the tension as the room watched intently.
Isabella eventually answered, her voice clear and steady, as Alessandra went on with her veiled accusations. "Alessandra, loyalty cannot be demonstrated solely by words. It is earned via deeds. Maybe you ought to concentrate more on setting an example and less on raising doubts.
With the weight of her remarks reverberating around the room, silence descended. Alessandra's nails dug into the wooden table in front of her as her jaw tensed.
Alessandra stayed behind as the meeting came to a close, staring at Isabella's vanishing form. Her mind raced with ideas of getting even, and she became enraged and envious. Alessandra whispered to herself, "I'll give her a fight if she wants one." As she started to create a trap that would permanently put an end to Isabella's ascent, a twisted smile appeared on her lips.
