~Jackson POV~ I sat down at my desk and put my face in my hands. I shouldn’t have gotten so upset at Anna. She was only going off what she heard. There wasn’t even a lie- I did use to be a huge playboy before Cathy. ‘Maybe so but we have changed. I don’t want Anna to view us badly. I still feel drawn to her.’ Onyx finished lamely. ‘Maybe you shouldn’t have used an alpha voice on her then. She’s human- you could’ve forced her to her knees’ I was still bitter about that. We haven’t used our alpha voice since the time with Cathy. Instead of Onyx answering he just gave me his back and left me to both of our thoughts. I couldn’t deny that I wanted Anna. She wasn’t like Cathy in appearance but she was beautiful. She was strong, and fierce- she’d make a perfect Luna. However I had to remember that if she left the hunters then they’d be constantly making threats on her life. My pack wasn’t extremely weak but we weren’t strong enough to stand up to the hunters. Lost in my thoughts I decided to take a stroll around the courtyard. There were a couple of omegas and warriors out. I was nearly to the end of the road when I noticed one who looked eerily similar to Anna. Her face was nearly identical besides that her hair was in a near bun. When I made eye contact with her I couldn’t deny the similarities. They could’ve been twins. ‘What’s your name?’ I asked her. She looked momentarily shocked that I was addressing her so casually but she hurriedly answered ‘My name is Cara, alpha.’ She said and politely bowed and averted her eyes. I sniffed the air but I couldn’t scent any wolf. ‘Are you wolfless, Cara?‘ Onyx was peering through my eyes now as well trying to understand the situation ‘Ah yes, alpha. I was born without a wolf but my family is from a strong bloodline so I was allowed to stay.’ She continued staring down. ‘Do you have any siblings. Perhaps a twin?’ She shook her head and looked genuinely confused by my attention. I nodded and sent her on her way. ‘Onyx- there’s no way that can be a coincidence could it?’ He seemed just as flabbergasted as me. Anna looked identical to this girl but had no relation to her. ‘I don’t understand. Could she be a witch? Maybe a shapeshifter?’ I hadn’t considered a shapeshifter. We had many enemies being from a large pack and I could imagine having pissed off a witch before. There was a sure fire way to break a shapeshifter spell however. Couldn’t hurt to attempt it. I made my way to my room and prepared for bed. In the morning- Anna would have to answer my questions whether she liked them or not. ~Cathy~ I tossed and turned for most of the night. Completely restless and perturbed by the way Jackson and onyx acted. I wanted to be upset and yell at them that they weren’t faithful. However I couldn’t so I just had to bite my tongue. A******s- both of them. Eventually I fell off into a restless sleep but woke up at my usual 6 a.m. i changed and put my necklace on. No one was normally up in the pack house by this time so I would wander off and go on a jog. However when I stopped at the edge of the stairwell I could hear the sizzle of a pan. Deidras hearing was slowly coming back to me. I peeked around the corner and saw Jackson preparing breakfast. It was an odd sight to see- did he do this every morning? This used to be one of my main jobs… maybe they just never replaced me after I was banished. ‘Are you going to come into the kitchen or just peer from the doorway like a stalker?’ Jackson’s voice contained some amusement but also something darker… maybe malicious? ‘I just was going to go out for a run. I was unaware that anyone else got up this early’ I sidestepped him in the kitchen and went to grab some water. ‘I enjoy making breakfast. Someone I care about always made it and it made me feel closer to her learning how to make it’ I nearly choked on my water hearing that. He gave me a weird look but went back to whatever he was making. ‘Sit and have breakfast with me’ he nodded at the chair. I wanted to refuse but it didn’t seem like a request so I sat down. It’s not like I can fight an alpha command anymore so I suppose I was stuck. ‘What are we having then?’ I tapped my nails and eyes the pan. ‘It’s a special recipe I learned years ago. Has a lot of ingredients in it- I doubt you’ve heard of it’ he said keeping his back to me. ‘Try me- I’ve made a lot of food in my day and I’m sure I’ve made all breakfast options.’ Whatever he was making did smell odd but I was adamant that I would recognize whatever he was making. ‘Okay well it’s a crepe with some special ingredients in it. Cinnamon, cranberry, saffron, vanilla’ he listed off- they all sounded very normal Ingredients so I don’t know why he was acting as if the meal was special. ‘Oh and the most important ingredient white willow’ I felt the colour drain out of my face. White willow was practically poisonous to witches. The magic infused in my necklace was directly linked to witches. Before I could respond he had put a plate in front of me and was waiting expectantly. ‘I’ll be offended if you don’t try it- I thought it would be right up your alley’ the look he was giving me made me feel like my secret was already exposed and I gulped. He held up a fork to my mouth and smiled ‘Only a bite’ I felt like I could faint.
