We sat at the kitchen table, while she moved around putting out some cups, the sugar and waiting for the coffee to be ready. She had wanted us to sit in a small sitting room they had, but I insisted that it would be better in the kitchen, that coffee always tastes better in kitchens. She agreed and while she was bustling about in there, trying to finish preparing it, I said: “I have something to tell you.” When I caught her attention, I asked, “Please turn off the stove, and take a seat.” She did so a little surprised, because she wanted to finish preparing the coffee, but I said to myself, “It’s now or never!” so I started talking to them.
