When Lucius was gone, Adara turned to Elana. “I’m sorry, lady. So much has happened to him, to all of us…” She sighed, and the sound was near to weeping. “I fear he may never be the same again.” Briana moved to sit beside Adara and put her arms around her. Elana looked at the two women and then at Dagon who leaned on his knees staring into the fire. “I will check on him.” Outside, Lucius walked directly to the edge of the lake. The summer moon was bright, and nearly full, illuminating the water with a silver light. He looked around to see the wild horses on the other side, their still shapes like sentries around the perimeter. He heard another sound too.
