CHAPTER 11
Raine's POV
I opened my eyes fully, and the man before me made my heart skip a few beats.
His hand was gently stroking my hair as he sat close to me. His face was kind, his eyes soft, but something about him made my chest tighten in a way I couldn’t explain.
“You’re okay,” he said softly, trying to calm me.
I looked around the unfamiliar room, confused. “How long… have I been here?”
“A few hours,” he answered. “You fainted earlier after—after talking to yourself.”
I winced. I wasn’t really talking to myself, but I couldn’t tell him what had truly happened.
He cleared his throat, like he was trying to steady himself. His voice dropped, softer, deeper. “I want to know you more.”
