Chapter 26 Lycan Hades The chamber was silent, save for the low crackle of fire in the stone hearth. I sat alone at the end of the long obsidian table, a goblet of dark wine in hand. The air was thick with tension—so thick the guards by the doors hadn't dared to breathe too loudly since the messenger arrived. My eyes locked on the sealed scroll lying before me. The wax was broken. I’d already read its contents—twice, maybe three times. Yet the words still echoed in my skull like a curse: If it’s war you want… then it’s war you’ll get. “Arrogant little mutt,” I muttered, slamming the goblet down.
