Melanie took several steps backwards. She became startled the moment she saw it was him again. Is this a curse or something? Just when she wanted to move on, and forget everything that happened that night he kept on appearing in front of him. Harry glanced at her first, then turned his gaze to Ms Smith who was smiling broadly at him. "Good morning Mr Harry" Mrs Smith greeted him, and he nodded his head with no single smile or warmth on his face. "Good morning Sir" Melanie managed to greet despite the fact that she was still dealing with anxiousness. "She'll be your new assistant from now on sir. If you need anything, do not hesitate to let her know" Mrs Smith replied, and that alone increased Melanie's fury. Melanie walked right behind him with the files she was carrying. She kept saying prayers within herself, wishing that he would never be able to recognize her. "Miss Johnson" He called her meanly, and she halted instantly with her eyes widened. Harry turned around giving her a glance that brought the chills down her spine. "Whatever it was that happened between us was just a mistake. If there is anything you want, you shouldn't hesitate to tell me about. Be it cash or kind. Don't let that fling deceive you into thinking we're familiar with each other. Do I make myself clear or is there anything that you don't understand?" His cold voice struck her hard, and tears circulated in her eyes. Jerk! He has the guts to speak to her in such manner after taking advantage of her, and taking away her virginity? She blinked the tears right in immediately. He can't see her weakness no matter how bad she was feeling. "I understand you! I haven't met you before, neither have we gotten this close to each other" Melanie described with her palms, and he smirked. "I'm glad we have an understanding" He replied before walking away, and Melanie buried her face in her palms. He's such an asshole to talk to her in such a manner. The whole day was hell for Melanie because the inconsiderate billionaire didn't stop sending her on errands. She kept on walking around the entire day. "Your cup of coffee" She dropped the cup on the table in front of Mr Harry who was on call. He didn't even spare a glance at her, he continued taking the calls which lasted for some minutes, and then he picked up the glass, and scoffed. "This is so cold. Can't you see how cold the weather is?" He shook his head in disapproval, and Melanie gritted her teeth in annoyance. "That's because you were on call for such a long time Sir" She explained, and he snorted at her. "Are you complaining, Miss Johnson?" He raised his eyebrows, and Melanie bowed her head immediately, lowering her glare at him. "No Sir" She mouthed, and picked up the cup from the table, and walked out of the office grumbling while Mr Harry smirked. *** Harry drove his black Bentley into the big mansion, and parked the car at the garage before getting out, and heading into the mansion. One of the servants standing at the door of the entrance twisted the doorknob, and opened the door before he walked into the large sitting room. "Welcome home Harry" He heard a familiar voice speak from the sitting room on his way to the stairs. He quickly turned around, and saw his mother sitting on the couch with her legs crossed. "Mom?" He arched his eyebrows, and she smiled faintly at him. He walked to the sitting room still looking surprised. "You didn't tell me you were coming. What are you doing here?" He asked, and his mother shot him a deadly glare. "Is that even a question? Do I need an invitation to visit my own son?" Lady Barbara Lee scoffed, and Harry ran his fingers through his curly hair. "No. I just don't like it when I'm being caught by surprise" Harry replied. He sat on the couch dropping his suitcase on the diamond table in front of him. "When are you getting married Harry?" Lady Barbara throw the question at him, and he coughed slightly. He knew that was the reason why she came to see him. "Mom?" He called with a sigh. "What is wrong with you Harry? Do you want to lose your inheritance to your father's damn illegitimate son Josh?" Lady Barbara cried out, and Harry exhaled deeply. "You know I hate to hear his name. He might be my half brother, but he's my rival and my enemy" He freaked out. "I came to give you a message from your grandfather. He said you have an ultimatum of a month to get a wife. If you fail to do that he'll be left with no choice than to hand over your inheritance to that illegitimate grandson of his. It's high time you let go of the past my son. It's high time you get a woman" Lady Barbara broke down, and Harry walked up to her and hugged her tightly. TWO WEEKS LATER... Melanie stared at the calendar with worry written all over her swollen face. Lately, she has been feeling so sick. "It's a new month already, and I'm yet to see my monthly cycle. What exactly could be wrong with me?" She thought scratching her head tiredly. Janice walked into the room and saw her looking very worried and sick. "What's up girl?" Janice narrowed her eyes at her, and Melanie exhaled deeply in exhaustion. "I'm worried Janice. I haven't seen my monthly cycle since last month" She lamented. "Are you... Are you by any chance pregnant?" Janice stuttered, and Melanie turned sharply at her with widened eyes. What the... She can't possibly be pregnant, it was only a one-time thing. "I... I... I don't know" She stammered not knowing what else to say. "I have a pregnancy test strip. How about you check it out yourself?" Janice asked, and she nodded her head. Picking up her bag, Janice searched for the strip, and handed to shivering Melanie who walked into the bathroom with sweaty palms.
