Chapter 14 Stoke the Fire

Cade and I never got the chance to talk. The meeting was long and by that time we were done, it was dinner time.
Cade received a call right after the meeting so I had to gather our things.
"Abby, join us for dinner. It's actually mom's birthday. It would just be us and my aunt." I am not sure about lengthening this tension between us. But the guy wouldn't want to accept a No.
He sensed my hesitation. "Mom specifically said to bring you to dinner."
"Can I stop by my apartment at least to change quickly? I mean..." I pleaded.
"By all means. We will drop you and the driver will come back to pick you up." He stated.
"Alright. Should I bring something? This is sudden." I hastened what I was doing so we could get started making our way out.
