Liam feels is heart thud as he makes his way through the school in search of Isabelle. He hadn't stopped thinking about her and how beautiful she had looked. Ignoring the usual stares and giggles from girls, he turns the corner and smiles to himself as he spots her at her locker.
He starts to walk towards her, but is stopped by a hand on his chest. He looks down and follows the arm, coming face to face with the owner, Amber. He takes hold of her hand and removes it. "Not now, Amber." His tone flat and disinterested. Before she could respond, he walks away, but was filled with disappointment as Isabelle had gone.
The sound of Isabelle's stomach grumbling cuts through the silent room. She keeps her head down, continuing to write, hoping no-one had noticed. The sound of the bell is like music to her ears. Packing up her things, she exits the classroom into the hustle and bustle of the hallway.
Entering the cafeteria, Isabelle's mouth waters at the smell of burger that instantly hits her nose. Another grumble from her stomach hastens her steps to the line. She sits down at a table waiting for Carter, biting into her burger, she lets out a slight moan from her lips.
"Enjoying that I take it," a throaty chuckle comments.
She almost chokes on her mouthful and, once she recovers, wipes her face, Isabelle looks to her left at the person sitting there, wondering why he was there.
"Hey Belle." The voice sends shivers down her spine. "Can we talk?"
Looking directly into the eyes of Liam, her confidence shrinks as she shakily breaths out, with uncertainty clear in her voice, "erm, sure".
Liam releases a breath he didn't realise he was holding and smiles at her, running a hand through his hair as he does. Isabelle watches him and wonders if his hair is as soft as it looks. "I'm sorry about the other night."
Isabelle, not knowing how to respond, nods her head. Waiting for the words that are bound to follow, she looks away, focusing on her now going cold burger.
"About Amber. She shouldn't have spoken to you like that", the husky voice continues.
Isabelle shrugs her shoulders, "I'm used to it". Amber had always been mean to Isabelle, ever since Carter turned her down, believing that she is the reason why.
"Look at me, Belle", Liam softly spoke. Isabelle turns her head so she is looking him in the eye. She watches as he raises his hand to carefully tuck her hair behind her ear. The warmth of his thumb grazing her cheek ignites sparks within her.
Ignoring the urge to close her eyes, she stammers out the question that's been on her mind, "how do you know my name?"
A smile appears on Liam's face, "how could I not know the name of the most beautiful girl I've ever seen?" Isabelle feels her cheeks burn and heart beat quicken, trying to think of something to say as it had caught her off guard. Liam continues to smile at the flustered girl before him, waiting patiently for her to find her voice.
Just as Isabelle opens her mouth to speak, the clatter of a tray hitting the table stops her. "Hey guys", Carter cheerfully spoke as he sat opposite her. Liam nods his greeting.
Isabelle turns to face her best friend and catches him sneaking a chip from her tray. She swats his hand as she loudly states, "what do you think you are doing? You know I don't share my food!" "But yours taste better." Carter shrugs in response and lets out a chuckle, along with Liam. He raises his eyebrows and eye points to Liam, secretly asking what he was doing here. Isabelle had momentarily forgotten about Liam.
Rolling her eyes at Carter, she turns towards him once again and sees him staring at her, fully aware Carter was watching. "Can we talk later?" She nervously asks Liam, biting her lip in anticipation.
She watches as the smile on his face grows, "of course". She feels her heart leap and smiles back. "See you later."
Liam got up and walks away, feeling happy that she wanted to talk to him again. He looked forward to seeing her, to look into her dark forest green eyes, to see the dimples that would form on her cheeks when she smiled, and to hear the sound of her soft, angelic like voice that makes his heart race.
