Chapter Seven

1666 Words

CHAPTER SEVEN REED SWALLOWED HIS coffee as he sat out on the back porch, staring out at the trees that surrounded his family home. He never thought he would return, never thought life would throw him such a curveball. Yet, here he was, a cool breeze rustling the branches of the trees on the back property, the birds chirping their morning song, squirrels chasing each other around the massive trees. And his brother glaring at him. “What do you want, Lincoln?” Reed asked. He had been surprised when Lincoln’s family wasn’t there when he arrived but counted it a blessing. He didn’t need to deal with Erin on top of his brother. “I told you this wasn’t a long-term thing. I just needed to regroup.” “And I told you to leave us alone,” his brother said, almost growling. “We don’t want you here.”
