Chapter VII- Hades' Memories (Part Two-Knowing Her)

1128 Words
Hades' POV It has been a month since I have been to the underground cells. I have not met her since then. I could not. Although I did not want a mate, the guilt was there. But her beautiful scent lingered around the corridors, reaching me wherever I went. In fact, I left the palace for a few days. My mind was running over a lot of things as to why I couldn't smell her before. I even visited her coven. I found out that her adoptive parents masked her scent to hide the fact that she was human. Reasonable. I still could not go back to the palace, so I decided to go to the place where I felt relaxed. The mountains. The cool mountain breeze helped me relax, like always. The forest had been my first choice, but the green was way too familiar. I looked around my surroundings. Winter was approaching, giving the atmosphere a slight chill, the sun is hidden from mankind, all of it has always helped me escape reality for a few days. These mountains were my favorite place in 'Caelum'. It means heaven in Latin. My mother named this place when she and my father settled here, almost a thousand years back. They had basically created this town. My mother loved nature and always made sure that nature was well-tended. The lush green vegetation in this town is all her work. It reminds me of the good times. When my parents were alive, he killed them. When he tried to kill me. Finding my mood damped, I decided to return to the palace. . . . The first face of mankind to greet me was Solomon. He looked different. Good different. He even had a small smile on his face, a very rare scenario. "Everything good Solomon?" I asked him with an amused smile, The petite witch girl came running towards him and caught his lips with hers, to answer my question. They were at it for almost five minutes. When they finished devouring each other, the witch looked up at him and gave him a look full of love. They both seemed so in love, and apparently had forgotten me. When they both noticed me, the witch girl quickly looked down, with a blush tainting her face. Solomon let out a chuckle while pulling her onto him. To say I am shocked would be an understatement. I have never seen Solomon so carefree. Excusing herself, she started running towards the garden. "So you want to tell me something?" I asked him, amused. "She is my chosen one." He said with lovey eyes, still directed towards the path the witch girl went. I could hear her calling out 'Nyx'. I followed her voice in hopes of seeing Persephone. It was quite ironic. Hades and Persephone mated together. But there was no future. I won't turn her, so she will remain human. Although I would not let her out of this palace. If she dies, I will become weak. "He is here", the witch girl said. Persephone's face contorted into confusion as if asking who? "I am here", I answered her unasked question. . . . Days were becoming more tiring, and Persephone was not making it any easy. She would always argue back and want to go out of the palace. I still cannot believe I threw a glass at her. I missed it on purpose, but I could not let the anxiety out of me. My wolf, on the other hand, kept on making things worse. He was always on the edge, snapping at people, killing those human blood bags and whatnot. He, unlike me, had always wanted a mate, but being the king's chosen one brings a lot of danger. And here she was wanting to go out. "You are not to leave the mansion", my voice echoed through the courtroom. The amount of restraint she has shown me over the past couple of months was enough to kill someone a thousand times. The others are pretty suspicious of my patience towards her, especially Astrid. "Why not your Majesty?" she snapped back. A few snickers could be heard coming from Agnes, Oscar, and Czar. This woman is getting difficult day by day, which is not very good for my reputation. "She even spat the honors", Ryker added with a chuckle. She indeed did. I could not help but frown at this. She needed to respect me, for which she had to know her place. I stood up to reach her, but she could not help but check me out. She was staring at my lips for a long time. 'Naughty little mate' Caspian whispered. She looked down when she noticed that I was way too near to her. Her heart was beating so fast that it was all I could hear. In fact, everyone in the room could hear her rapid heart beats. I could not let anyone know that she was my chosen one. I disagree with having a weakness. I hid my expressions, into one of hatred and disgust. It gave me unknown emotions, emotions I did not want to feel when she whimpered at the disgust oozing out of me. I had shown her impatience, arrogance, even been rude to her many times, but never hatred. I mentally shook my head. She means nothing to me. She needs to learn her place. Inside, Caspian was going all crazy, trying to take control to stop me from hurting her. "Do not ever question or insult my authority. I would not hesitate to finish your meaningless life", I said and I stormed out of the room without sparing her a second glance. She looked so hurt by my words, more by my tone. I was afraid that the look on her face would break my resolve and make me do the unthinkable. Take her right there. . . . A week had passed since my lash out. I have not met her since then. Right after I stormed out, Solomon had followed me. "What is going on with you?" he asked. "Nothing". I was not in the mood to be entertained. "Why snap at her then, being trapped in this place is not exactly someone's dream", he reasoned. "She needed to know her place" 'No she did not', Caspian shouted. "I never knew your mate needed to know her place", he said, so he went away, giving me a knowing look. . . . This week has been terrible for me. Caspian did not talk to me at all and also I did not get to see her, which had even me agitated. All of a sudden, Czar barged into my room panting, "Nyx..she..um..fainted..in pain"...... . . .
