Every thing felt dizzy for a moment. When my vision finally cleared I saw Hades' in front of me, with a gloomy look on his face. I looked around to see a middle aged woman. Every thing came rushing back to me.
The diner, Hades, the hotel room, our past.
"What happened?" I voiced out my concerns.
"I really don't know what happened, or how he did what he did." He replied very cautiously, as if waiting for me to freak out.
"He had some inside help, an extremely strong witch by his side", the middle-aged woman said, breaking me out of my trance.
"What about the others?" I asked.
"They are back at home. I thought everyone together would be a bit overwhelming", he said while scratching the back of his head.
"The vampire king-", I stopped myself mid-sentence, due to the change in Hades' demeanor. The room felt cold all of a sudden. His face was filled with rage, enough rage to kill someone. I should have been scared, and I was, just not for me, for the vampire king.
"When my mother was pregnant with me, she and my father had no idea that they were having twins. Those days, there weren't any doctors, only a few midwives. They were usually witches who would use their magic to find out about the babies. Something had been wrong with their magic, that they could not detect him in the womb. He came as a surprise. Unlike me, he was not a hybrid but just a vampire. Would you believe me if I said that we were like best friends?", taking a deep breath, he continued,
"Things went great for almost four centuries. I was the supernatural king while he was the vampire king. There was no jealousy or hatred between us. We loved each other the most. Things were going great for way too long." His whole demeanor had darkened. His eyes were many shades darker than his originally azure blue eyes.
"The werewolves attacked the palace and killed our mother. She could not protect herself as Oscar and Astrid had just been born, and she was weak. Our father was fighting off the remaining ones when he saw a coven of witches attacking the other side of the palace, where the twins were napping. Long story short, he died saving them. We managed to kill off the rest of the attackers, but the damage had been done."
His face looked pained, his eyes shut as if he was relieving that horrible day. I can't even imagine losing my parents. Something in me rushed forward to comfort him, to take away his pain. My arms quickly wrapped around his torso, my face nuzzled in his chest. His whole body instantly relaxed. His hands wrapped themselves around me while he breathed in my scent. We stayed in that position for some time. I let him go hesitatingly when I felt him relaxed enough.
"After the death of our parents, there were a lot of arguments between us. He wanted every other supernatural being, except vampires, to be wiped off. I can not agree with that. The group of werewolves and witches that attacked us were all dead. There was no need for the rest of the community to suffer. We went our different ways then. He became way more ruthless than me. If anyone thought that I killed for fun, you should have seen him. He wiped out numerous packs and covens from other parts of the world. This action of his caused many revolts against me. After all, he was my twin. She's not safe with him."
I knew exactly whom he was talking about. Who she was. My breath hitched in my throat thinking about the danger she was in, thinking about how I could lose her forever.
Lisa wasn't safe from Angelo, The Vampire King, Hades' twin.
