Kara couldn't shake off the feeling of unease as she walked out of the building. She had never been one to back down from a challenge, but John Douglas was different. There was something about him that made her feel like she was walking into a trap.
As she walked across campus, she couldn't help but think about their conversation. What did he want from her? And why was he being so persistent?
Kara's mind was a whirlwind of emotions as she tried to make sense of the situation. She had always known that the feud between their families was intense, but she had never thought that it would affect her directly.
As she walked into the library, she spotted a familiar face - her best friend, Emily. Emily was a petite blonde with a bubbly personality, and Kara loved her for being one of the few people in Oakwood who didn't care about the family feud.
"Hey, girl!" Emily exclaimed, looking up from her book. "What's going on? You look like you've seen a ghost."
Kara sighed, dropping into the chair across from Emily. "It's John Douglas," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Emily's eyes widened. "What about him?"
Kara filled Emily in on their conversation, leaving out no details. Emily listened intently, her expression growing more and more concerned.
"Girl, I don't know what to say," Emily said when Kara finished. "But I do know one thing - you need to be careful. The Douglases are not to be trusted."
Kara nodded, feeling a sense of unease wash over her. She knew that Emily was right. She couldn't let her guard down around John, no matter how charming he seemed.
As they sat there, discussing the situation, Kara couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity. What was John Douglas's angle? And why was he so interested in her?
"I don't know, Emily," Kara said, sighing. "I just feel like there's something more to this than meets the eye."
Emily nodded in agreement. "I think you're right. You need to be careful, Kara. The Douglases are notorious for their manipulation tactics."
Kara nodded, her mind racing with possibilities. She knew that she needed to be cautious, but a part of her was drawn to John.
As they sat there, lost in thought, the library around them seemed to fade away. Kara felt like she was standing at a crossroads, unsure of which path to take.
Meanwhile, John was sitting in his office, staring at a photo of his family. He couldn't help but feel a sense of pressure, knowing that he was expected to carry on the family legacy.
His phone buzzed, breaking the silence. It was a text from his aunt, Victoria. "Meet me at the mansion. We need to discuss something urgent."
John's heart sank. What could his aunt want now? He knew that she was always looking for ways to increase the family's power and influence.
He sighed, rubbing his temples. He was getting tired of the games his family played. He just wanted to live his own life, without the weight of the Douglas name hanging over him.
But he knew that wasn't possible. Not yet, at least.
John stood up, grabbing his jacket. He knew that he had to meet his aunt, no matter what she wanted.
As he walked out of the office, he couldn't help but think about Kara. What was she doing right now? And would he ever see her again?
The questions swirled in his mind, taunting him. He knew that he needed to focus on his family's business, but his mind kept wandering back to Kara.
